I wanted to share my experience regarding a recent visit to this restaurant. They automatically add a 20% gratuity for parties of six or more and don’t inform you of this charge beforehand. We left a cash tip on the table, so they received both the cash tip and the added gratuity. Additionally, the prices are quite steep, with a chicken strip plate costing $15. For that price, I would prefer to drive to Amarillo for more options. While I appreciate the hard work of the staff, this practice feels dishonest, and because of it, we won’t be returning.
On a positive note, our waitress was excellent, but it’s hard to overlook the fact that I feel $18 of my money was unfairly taken. Overall, I would rate the restaurant as follows: - Price per person: $10–20 - Food: 3 - Service: 4 - Atmosphere: 3 Shame on you, El Rancho, for this sneaky approach.
We ordered takeout, and it took an astonishing 2 hours to receive our food. Numerous other customers who arrived after us received their meals and even finished eating before we got ours. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations either. Here's my overall rating: Meal Type: Brunch, Food: 3, Service: 1, Atmosphere: 3.
The food was really disappointing; I ended up feeling quite sick after trying it. As for the service, it was a dine-in experience during dinner. I spent around $20–30 per person.
