My partner and I attended dinner Friday night to celebrate my birthday and we were just blown away the minute we walked in. The service was phenomenal and the food was nothing less than extraordinary. Jen the owner is so lovely and personal and Elsie our waitress was fabulous. We cannot wait to be back!!
Staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating. We were staying not far away but didn't want to drive as we'd been on a winery tour. HQ sent a car to collect us and took us home again. It was the best meal any of us had had for a very long time. One of us is coeliac and the chef put together a special dessert of sorbets and meringue for her. We couldn't believe the quality of service and food! Truly fantastic thankyou
Planned an overnight weekend getaway with my partner in early August and dined at Hunter's Quarter on the Saturday night. We decided to try this place out based on all the amazing reviews and it surely did not disappoint. We had the crab dumplings and duck&scallops for entree which were outstanding. I'm not usually a fan of coconut dishes but my partner insisted that I should try it since the combination of ingredients were quite interesting and I'm so glad I did because the coconut broth was delicious and left me wanting more. The caramel souffle was divine. The only downfall was the lack of staff that night - only two waitresses serving about 15 tables of 2-4 people. It was full house by 7:30pm and stayed that way until we left 2 hours later. Don't get me wrong, the two girls were very hospitable and did a great job but it was hard to get their attention at times as they rushed in and out of the kitchen, clean tables, greet guests, answer the phone and settle bills. Just wondered why there wasn't more wait staff or a manager on shift on such a busy evening. We loved the ambience of the place, the decor, furniture and high ceiling definitely contributed positive to the overall experience. We did return the next morning to check out the cellar and the outdoor setting looked lovely. We will definitely come back for a long lunch in summer time.
We sat outside - it was a bit breezy but quiet and relaxed. Our waiter Cecyl was charming and very helpful. The entree was spanner crab dumplings with smoked salmon and sweet corn and coconut broth, delicious and Cecyl recommended a lovely wine to go with it. Next course steak which was very good and again the recommended wine matched perfectly. But desert was outstanding the white chocolate lamington and the caramel praline soufflé were divine with a sparkling sticky wine just finished us off. Great place for a long lunch. We walked out well sated and perfectly happy for the rest of the day. Would definitely come again when we visit the Hunter valley.
