Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónThis restaurant is a real gem and has the most fabulous outside dining setting as well as a very smart indoor dining experience too. We have visited La Chartreuse de Bignac restaurant 5 times now at different times of the year, and are still eager to return. The food is excellent, and consistently so, which is really important. The menus are always interesting. The staff are a delight, particularly Emmie, who is both engaging and professional. An all round great experience!
4 of us had a very memorable meal here one is vegetarian. The food is really superb and the service is faultless. Yes, prices are high, but for this quality it is worth splashing out once in a while. Our vegetarian was offered a special menu of pumpkin soup and and excellent vegetarian risotto with fennel and other vegetables all designed for him. Really fabulous and a meal we will remember for a long time. So many times we are disappointed but not on this occasion. We had to finish on time to catch a flight from Bergerac airport (less than 10 minutes away), but there was no worries on this score service was unhurried but timely.
What an incredible property this is. The grounds and views are magnificent. Our room was beautifully decorated and well supplied with all the necessities that are often lacking in many hotels. Dinner was delicious and creative. The wine was very reasonably priced. We were treated to the most beautiful sunset during our dinner. I highly recommend putting this property on your to do list!
We stayed at the hotel and I must say that it’s spectacular especially the grounds and views, as with the restaurant. I love how charming the setting is. On our first night, we had a dinner reservation at the restaurant. The cooked food were delicious. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the bread, cheese and wines. All three were somewhat lackluster. As for the service, well… It wasn’t good too. There was a male and female service staff. Restaurant was practically empty when we arrived (Two other tables came in when we were almost done with our dinner). The male was a young chap and we could see that he’s fairly new and wasn’t given the proper training. He tried very hard to do a good job though. As for the female service staff…She’s rude, crude and doesn’t practice hygiene at all. She was scratching her head almost the whole time while opening wines or serving drinks. I bet she thought no one was watching. She’s also very loud with whatever she’s doing (i.e. pushing the cheese cart, opening wines, pouring drinks, placing drinks/food on the table and etc)… no refinement at all. She seemed unhappy working there. It’s really sad to experience a service standard which is not up to par to the beautiful surroundings and good food. We had breakfast for the two consecutive mornings staying at the hotel. Service is somewhat ok but again, the bread was not. It was kind of stale and were not freshly baked. It felt like it was from the last evening. Bread is such a staple in any French community and I don’t understand when a beautiful restaurant like this serves stale ones. The breakfast was ok and nothing to shout about. As both my husband and I travel a lot and have always dined at the finest restaurants in the world, I’m a tad bit disappointed with this restaurant. We expected more due to the many good reviews and beautiful setting. Please improve on your service standards.
We stayed at the hotel and had a reservation for dinner at the magnificent small restaurant with endless views and a huge terrace for warmer days. The service was professional and the food on the set menu was excellent. Wines by the glass because I was drinking alone made all very comfortable. Such a pleasant evening watching the sunset. A special accolade for the breakfast in the morning. Everything is homemade and special.
