After a long drive from ohio we stumbled across Dave's Tavern and stopped in for a beer. We were greeted by Justina with a friendly smile and cold budwieser. Th... leer más After a long drive from ohio we stumbled across Dave's Tavern and stopped in for a beer. We were greeted by Justina with a friendly smile and cold budwieser. They were setting in a bin of ice and were just what we were looking for. Though the placewas a hole and bathrooms flooded and nasty didn't matter to us cause the service and price was just write. Went back two nights later and was greeted with the same friendly service. Justina made us feel like regulars and old friends. we got the most personable service on our vacation at Dave's Tavern. If you don't mind a seriously divey bar don't miss out on Dave's Tavern! Thanks justina ! You're hospitality was a highlight of or drinking experience in NYC.

A lot of gyro places will simply leave off the meat in their vegetarian gyro or they have falafel which I find too dry. I ordered the plate instead of the gyro sandwich. The vegetables had good seasoning and were grilled very well. The pita was not house made, but it was still decent. The service was very good and the guy that took my order came around to see if I was happy with everything. I would eat here again.

The grilled cheese was nicely grilled and crunchy. It had what seemed to be caramelized onions in it that added a nice flavor. The caprese salad had very good tomatoes. The fresh mozzarella was acceptable but not the best cheese I have had. Not bad by any means though. The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette. It wasn't overly strong on the vinegar but I appreciated it. It was different from what I'm used to for caprese. I also really enjoyed the citrus infused water they brought to the table as well as their iced tea. My only complaint would be that the tables are made from an intentionally rough cut wood and my plate did not sit flat. It made it a little annoying to cut my food.

I will say I was disappointed in the portions. Ordered the baked lasagna and it came with a side salad. It honestly looked like a kids meal it was so small, definitely still hungry afterwards but it did taste good! I guess they focus more on the cakes and it seemed like salads as well. But I can't make myself pay $14 for a salad. Probably will pass on a second try, but they seem to have consistent regulars so it is for some!
