So filling yet such high quality in an incredible setting overlooking beautiful Adelaide. Definitely a place for all special occasions.
Had breakfast a couple of times at this restaurant earlier this month. Normal cookie cutter all day dining restaurants that are about but with two differences. One, they had a nice sunny set of tables overlooking a balcony/patio that makes it rather pleasant. And two, they had an Indian curry in the breakfast menu which was rather surprising. Unsure about how to eat it (with bread perhaps?) but a pleasant surprise nonetheless. Overall good breakfast.
Woah this place has definitely gone downhill. I've been here probably 6 times over the past four years, because they're well known for having great chefs who make good use of local South Australian ingredients in their meals. However my meal with them on the weekend just past leaves little to be desired. Ordered a Sri Lankan chicken curry with samosa, steamed basmati rice, paratha bread, pappadums with fresh tomato and coconut salsa, which costs $32. The chicken was cold, with not enough sauce. The bread was charcoal burnt, which for most is considered quite unhealthy. The rice was hard and not moist. The only half decent thing on the plate was the papadums. We shared an artisan bakery sourdough bread with native spiced dukkah and Dairyman’s cottage hand churned butter for $8. I loved this place when it was buffet dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Then it was reduced to only Saturday nights. About $80-$90 per head but the food was high quality. It is now a la carte. Food is still good quality and the desserts have stepped up. The date brownie was delicious, the native ice cream trilogy was different tasting but nice.my favourite was the carrot cake and mini lemon meringues. The main meals were tasty and presented well. Kids menu, I would suggest serving shoestring fries instead of really thick almost wedges style fries as most kids find it too much. Will always keep going back it never disappoints.

The best dish of the night was the heirloom beetroot salad with Persian fetta and frisée, for $10, as a side. Should have asked for this to be doubled in size and served as a main instead. Funnily enough it even comes up on their booking engine (I snooped when paying the bill) that I'm a repeat customer. If I was in the restaurant business, although I know it would be important to wow first timers, it's also important to maintain your regular clientele. The service was good, and always has been five star. They were happy to split the bill at the end, and they didn't charge us the credit card surcharge. We even used to the Entertainment Book, where the cheaper main is free when an equal prices or more expensive main is purchased. You can also join up (at a few) with the IHG Dining Rewards program which will give you a $50 voucher to use on a one off basis, and 25% on an ongoing basis, at most restaurants associated with IHG Group hotels. Because of the poor quality of this meal, I won't be in a rush to come here again.
