Love the mutton nashif and roti. If you are dine in they will serve you freshly made rotis. Even there biriyanis and mutton rice is heaven. Too much to have for 2 people. Egg tomato is also yummy
Good service, great kababs and tandoori roti with hummus. One heck of a place to try out the authentic Arab food and thier soup and salad are really good too. Overall experience 8/10
Once upon a time, if you wanted to buy a shampoo, you went and you got one. The whole family used it, liked it and was fine with it. Now if you go to buy a shampoo, there is one for kids, males, females, dandruff, shine, silky, abaya one, etc., etc., etc. Omar Al Khayyam reminds me of a place which refuses to define its personality by stupid trends. Instead, it understands that it has set a trend and now must work to maintain it so it does just that. From what I have seen, the menu is almost unchanged since more than 5 years (except for being printed a bit nicer now). You enter the place for men to sit and it is just fine. Only when you enter the family area made up of separate cubicles with your own sink and ac that you begin to appreciate the simplicity of the matter. I used the shampoo example for a reason. Just like those times, you absolutely cannot alter any item on the menu. It is made the way it is made. NO customization for you whatsoever. There is no soft music in the family area. Just a nearby family laughing. All is good in this world. Welcome back to the simple time. The waiter/waitress comes, takes your order and goes. He/she is not rude and not friendly. They are doing a job and doing it well. You tell them what you want and they bring it for you. Want something else? Ring the bell. Here you go. Enjoy sir. Finished? Ring. Tell them you want Sulaimani tea and they give you one free. No extra charge. Parking can be an absolute nightmare. Mujarrah is bee's hive of never empty parking spaces (paid or free), baladayya and cops roaming around to fine you for parking on the road so you had better be careful. Prepare yourself for a very long walk to the restaurant and back. Just tell yourself that it will be worth it. In a world where people are so complicated that they ask for humus with pine seeds instead of just plain humus, this stands as a refreshing example of simplicity done at a level for the family. What happened to us? When did we become so complicated? Why did we become so complicated? This place is great. This place is awesome. Moreover, just like the old shampoo that everybody liked and worked for everybody, this place will work you also. But ONLY if you give it a chance.
