Atmosphere: This is a cozy little restaurant. GeAngelo’s is tucked away in the Northern Lights in North Ames. It’s location makes it somewhat of a hidden gem. Because of this, it’s a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a meal. The music is played a perfect volume. Not too loud, but as my wife said, “You can hear it when you want too.” Pro Tip: Ask for a table in the fireplace room… AKA the Best Table in Town. Service: Our server, Marley, did a great job. She checked on us several times, but was never pushy. Marley was very knowledgeable about the menu. Her suggestion of the Suppli was spot on. Kudos Marley. Food: Last, and certainly not least, was the excellent food. We started our meal with a couple of beverages. My wife had a Long Island iced tea that she enjoyed. I sampled a beer from Firetrucker Brewery in Ankeny one of the three local Iowa beers on tap. Very good. For an appetizer we had the “Suppli” which was suggested by our server, Marley. She described it as the best of both worlds risotto and mozzarella sticks. It was delicious. The flavor was perfectly complemented by the house marinara. Our server also brought out some of the homemade parmesan sauce. Another great dipping sauce for the Suppli. The fried app was surprising light and left us perfectly hungry for our pizza. We decided on the Natomeli pizza for our entree. The crispy, thin crust had a nice crunch to it, perfect for the generous amount of toppings. The toppings were all tasty and fresh. Each bite of our pizza left us content, yet still wanting more. We nearly finished the entire pie and we likely would have except we decided on dessert. Our housemade tiramisu was a great end to the meal. The sweet flavor and pudding like consistency was a savory sweet treat. Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with our visit. We’ve been coming to GeAngelo’s for years, and it seems to be getting better. We will be back soon.
This place is now on my top list. The appetizer was clearly homemade l still boling in the pan) The bread was hot and butter soft. The staff was awesome. My waitress was on point. The done deal for me was the reheated fettuccini left overs were still moist and juicy, full of flavor. Fake sauce dries up in the noodles. This sauce was still creamy with taste of real butter. I am definitely going back.
First time there. Nice server who also mentioned he works kitchen sometimes, in case we had questions. We received free mozzarella sticks since it was our first time. They were the best I've ever had. We enjoyed all our meals, the server, our leftovers. Would definitely go again!
This place is the absolute best the staff is friendly and the food is to die for, I go all the time, well at least once a week.
Great atmosphere and helpful servers. The portions are huge, making the meals a great deal. I had the blackened chicken alfredo. The sauce was creamy and covered all the noodles. The chicken was moist and smokey. My partner had the combo plate. So much pasta, sausage, and homestyle tomato sauce. We will definitely be going back.
