This quaint little spot is a hidden gem! We absolutely love the bean cheese, beef bean, and green chili bean burritos. They are all deep-fried and absolutely delicious. The menu is quite extensive as well. The only downside is that the seating is outside with no shade.
I grew up in Monterey Park and we went to Taco Treat on Garfield. Which has been gone for many years. So happy there's still a Taco Treat available for those fried burrito cravings yum!
It ain't about the atmosphere! I've been eating these since high school when there was one in Monterey Park. I've introduced them to 4 generations across 5 different states from 4 different locations in the San Gabriel Valley. It's the fried bean cheese burritos with their own sauce, which individually are nothing to brag about but combine them, and they are a multi-generational treasure. I tell people about them and, of course, no one understands. But put them together, and the light goes on. I've had them in Memphis, North Caroline, Virgina, Arizona, Fresno, Alhambra, West Covina, Huntington Beach, La Puente CA and Denton TX and 9 outta 10 people are hooked. I return to California 2-5 times annually to visit family, friends, and beaches, and I buy whatever I have the cash for (usually I plan ahead with at least $100) and bring them to family and close friends, who are anxiously waiting for them. We freeze them, tgttť and reheat them in, as well as med drink size containers of sauce, and I've made fans whenever/wherever they are shared. NOW I take paid orders. I can only support the habit of family!?! I've visited the stands in Monterey Park, West Covina, and Arcadia, where the sole survivors remain. I've seen 3 generations (that I know of) running 4 different stands, and the Arcadia is the last standing that I know of. And I am 67 years young at my waning years, the one who picks up the mantle in herits all. Hehehe, let's see how many are running!
Best Salsa and bean and cheese burritos from my childhood until now.
