I appreciated the honesty and ordered pork belly. The meal came out and the pork was hard underneath and soggy on top. I thought it might have been microwaved. I asked why the pork didn't have proper crackling and was told they compress it overnight so that it doesn't have crackle. It wasn't an Asian dish, I was confused about why it wouldn't have proper crackling (who does that anyway?? . There was a tiny smear of sweet potato and 10 beans with bacon. The beans were fine as was the small serving of sweet potato but the pork was inedible. The staff were told but nothing was done, so I paid $30 and ate 10 beans and about 2 tablespoons of sweet potato and pork. One of my friends ordered the pumpkin salad with no chilli and added chicken. Hers had to go back to the kitchen because the chicken must have been poached in salt and there was chilli in the dish. She can't do chilli. This was sent back and a bowl of tasteless (underseasoned chips came in its place. It had Maggi powdered gravy, aioli and tomato sauce. Others in the group had chicken parmas and they were all fine. I won't be going back and won't ever recommend it to anyone.
We booked early for Mother's Day lunch and we were glad we did because Brown Hill did not disappoint. The staff were welcoming and the 3-course meal was delicious. The Pulled Beef brisket sliders were incredible - tender and flavorful. The salmon was cooked perfectly and paired well with peas, fennel, and crispy mini potatoes. Dessert was also a highlight with mini treats like lemon meringue, chocolate ganache, vanilla panna cotta, and melting moments served with whipped cream. The staff were busy but still attentive, and the prices were great. We highly recommend booking at Brown Hill for a fantastic meal. We'll be back for Father's Day! Thank you to the staff at Brown Hill Hotel for making it a special day.
This was our first sit down dinner after COVID 19 and hubby and I decided to go local. The service was outstanding with greetings from nearly all the staff. Seating arrangements were co. mpliant with Government rules and our names and numbers were taken for traceability should anything happen. Once we were seated at our lovely isolated table, the waitress brought our menus and took our drink orders. The menu was simple pub food, (parmas, porterhouse, calamari, pasta etc) but done to perfection. For entree, we shared a garlic bread with bacon and cheese on it, which was fantastic. For mains, I had the salt and pepper calamari which was cooked beautifully, so tender and tasty. My hubby had a medium rare porterhouse which, he says, was perfectly cooked to his liking. Both meals came with chips and a small basic salad For the two of us to share an entree, a main meal each and 2 drinks it came to $76. Maybe it was the fact that it had been a while since we had gone out for a meal, but everything was terrific and the service and atmosphere was great.
I have travelled a lot with work and eaten in a lot of places and believe me when I say one of the worst evenings I’ve had. First people in the restaurant by 10 minutes and got served last after an hour. Lamb shanks to me are two but the one that came out was so tough I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. My girls were so hungry there was tears and even after alerting we hadn’t been served they continued to serve every other diner first. We have gone home hungry and very keen to never eat there again.
Delicious Food! Great Service! Excellent Prices! Recently new owners have taken over making the place a bit more enjoyable. Quality overall has increased. You can dine in the Bar or the Bistro. There is an outdoor area aswell, more for those warmer evenings. Regular visits once a week with mates will continue on.
