I ordered arancini balls and a garlic cheese pizza, both of which were quite good. However, I had also ordered the Texan burger, which was supposed to be a beef brisket burger. To my disappointment, it tasted more like bacon and had the texture of gammon. I'm not a fan of either, so I returned it immediately. The reason for my high score is how my complaint was efficiently handled. Both the staff member at the register and the chef at the pass were pleasant and promptly replaced my meal. Coming from a hospitality background, I appreciate how well they managed the situation. Kudos to them! My new main course was sausages and mash, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
We stayed overnight at the Travelodge Bankstown and included in the room rate was buffet breakfast at Greenfield Station Bistro. It is conveniently located near the lift which takes you up to the hotel. <br/ <br/ The atmosphere of the bistro is of being in at a train station (thus the name of the restaurant). The buffet breakfast offers made to order eggs (poached or fried) as well as the usual hot breakfast items like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms as well as cold items like fruit, pastries, and cereals. You can also make your own toast and have coffee from the coffee machine. There were also apple and orange juices on offer too. <br/ <br/ It was extensive enough to keep you happy without being over the top.
We stayed overnight at the Travelodge and were lucky enough to get tickets for the buffet breakfast at the Greenfield station bistro of the Bankstown sports club. It's a huge bistro, with relatively old decor but lots of tables. We've did notice the menu for dinner was extremely extensive. The buffet had a few different stations; one for fruit and yoghurt tubs, bread, cereals, pancake making and also hot food. The hot food included mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, sausages and scrambled eggs. There were also newspapers there to read. All you really need for your breakfast. No fuss, serve yourself, easy buffet breakfast.
A lovely setting for an afternoon out. We had booked for around 10 people for a birthday on this occasion.<br/ <br/ We were quickly seated and ordering food in a matter of minutes. The Greenfield Station Bistro has a wide variety of dishes on offer. We settled on the Chicken Wings, Cheesy Pizza, Thai Green Curry, Scotch Fillet and Salt and Pepper Squid. The entrees were out quite quickly. As soon as we took them back to our table the buzzer was going off again for our mains. <br/ <br/ The main sizes we thought were quite small. The Scotch Fillet was as big as your palm and the Thai Green Curry was majority prawns and rice. The Salt and Pepper Squid though was a decent serving. It came with a dozen pieces of Squid which covered a large bowl of chips.<br/ <br/ Overall we had a good time. I would definitely recommend experiencing the themes of the restaurants on offer at Bankstown Sports Club at least once. We may visit again but not for a while.
