If I had kids I’d bring them here for the cool playground! Icecream and lots of food/drink options too! Very kid friendly, dog friendly it’s just a good time everytime.
Stone Cow is a very fun, family friendly spot in Barre, MA. The weekends attract a fairly large crowd, but everything seems to be run smoothly with minimal wait times. They have a BBQ pit along with pizza and other foods to choose from. The beer is always fantastic with many styles and options. They also offer beer flights if you want to sample or just can't make up your mind. They have many animals on the farm that you can see along with an on-site playground for the kids.
The beers and bbq are great. The people are friendly. The setting is nice. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.
We had an amazing experience at Stone Cow Brewery! The drive was scenic, and the brewery itself is vibrant with stunning views. The service was excellent; everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. The food and beer were enjoyable, but the prices for the food were quite steep. On a positive note, we appreciated the dog-friendly outdoor patio, and the ice cream shop had pup cups for our dog. We would definitely come back for the drinks and atmosphere!
However, last night, we invited two other couples who had never been to Stone Cow before, and I was shocked at how different the experience was. The first issue arose with the two beer tenders, who had a very rude attitude towards our guests, even accusing them of not paying for their beer after my wife had already settled the bill. There seemed to be a lack of coordination among the beer tenders, as they appeared confused and unaware of each other’s actions. The situation worsened when a band started playing inside the barn, and they turned their amplifiers up to an unbearable volume. The noise was so overwhelming that everyone near the band had to relocate, and I could barely hear anyone in my own party. I’ve attended plenty of concerts, but this was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I’ve had. When I asked one of the beer tenders if this was a common occurrence, they mentioned that the band usually performs outside and that this was their first time playing indoors. Where was the manager? Did they not realize just how loud it was? After the band finished, we enjoyed some food that was good and ice cream that was great. With the warmer weather coming in April, I’m sure this place will get busier. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning, but I sincerely hope they address these issues so that others don’t share the same negative experience my friends and I did.
