Our family of five came to have lunch here after the boat tour. We were all hungry for food. The service was fairly fast. Everyone on our table had a fish dish and was enjoyed by all. Great place to eat and affordable prices
Went here immediately after the O'brien's boat tour. Frankly, it was better value, delivering on all aspects. The cod was very nice. Had a piece of very moist blueberry cake with a caramel topping. Even the coffee seemed better than normal. We were a larger group of 26 but the service was good. Staff were polite and engaging. It was one of the best lunches I had while in Newfoundland and Labrador. The restaurant is unassuming. Its simplicity in look is completely different than its quality.
Although the restaurant was pretty busy when we went in for lunch right after our boat tour, we were waited on rather quickly. The food was delicious, and the sangria I had was amazing!
After an already hilariously great but also agonizing 4 hour sea kayaking adventure my fiancé and I were ready for a good meal and some cold drinks. We walked into the restaurant and waited at the “wait to be seated” sign where an older lady glared over at us and asked “can I help you?” in a tone that seemed to question what exactly we were doing there.. We were seated by a young waitress in a nice shady spot on the upper patio surrounded by families and a table of German tourists. The seating was quick, table was clean. Our waitress got our waters and we placed our fish and chip orders in a matter of a few min. We noticed that many of the other people did not have food on their tables. (In the first 2 min we found out that the restaurant was basically out of everything except for fish and chips and besides, they had nothing on the menu except for whatever came out of the Atlantic)(I had been hoping for a hamburger or macaroni or pasta) Waitress tells us: No wifi. They’re out of ice tea. They didn’t have root beer. They’re out of calamari. Whatever. Just give us whatever, please, we are hungry. Over the next 20-30 minutes we watched some people come and go, however at this point it was evident the restaurant was having a diner rush and the only 2 female waitress, were running around like headless chickens while trying to accommodate the customers. Finally about 45 min food started coming out of the kitchen-everyone on the patio would enviously stare like vultures at the people whose food was ready. The waitresses apologizing for the delay. As more orders came up and the food was coming out the hilarity of this days adventure continued. Together we watched the table next to us and some others get the wrong food brought out to their tables. Everyone was hungry and people were loosing their patience. Mistakes were being made and it was clear that NO ONE was managing the chaos. Over 60 min later our food finally arrived. What was awkward was that we got our food before another couple who had been there before us. Who knows how long they had been waiting and it was evident they were pissed my fiancé had been served first. After serving us, the same waitress went up to the other couple and asked how they found the meal and if they were ready to pay. LOL I’m usually a quiet person but while waiting and talking with my fiancé I spoke my mind. What kind of establishment was this? I started making jokes and now the people around us at other tables are laughing at the completely blunt verbal diarrhoea spilling from my mouth. I was dehydrated, hot, tired, sunburnt, hungry, and didn’t care what I was saying. Even the German tourists were laughing and agreed with my statements regarding the horrible experience. Our fish was actually really good but the chips had more salt than the Atlantic Ocean. We ate quickly and then waited for the bill. The waitress told us we had to go get inline inside to pay. Inside there was a huuugggeee exodus of customers waiting to pay. Ugh. (I’ve never considered doing a dine and dash until that day- but we are decent people and we wouldn’t ever do that kind of thing) After an additional 15 min of patiently waiting we paid and left. The price was okay but we should gotten a discount. Myself and fiancé left. I later found out he left a 18% tip (why, I am unsure) Overall experience: 2/10 Food: 5/10. Service was friendly but still a 1/10. Cleanliness: 10/10
