Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónWe visited the pub this evening after reading good reviews. My husband, our 16-month-old baby, and I were celebrating the purchase of my new car. Our reservations were at 7:30pm, but we arrived at 7:10pm. We ordered our drinks at the bar and carried them to our table. There were only us and another table of 6 adults and 2 kids in the whole dining area. We were seated but were told after 20 minutes that there was a delay. They did not even take our orders. I then walked to the bar to order food for my little one. Just before 8pm, still no one had taken our orders, so my husband went to the bar to order our food and check on our little boy's food. At 8:20pm, after an hour and 10 minutes, our starters arrived along with our little boy's food. We asked how long our mains would take and were told another 20 minutes. We were so hungry that we finished our starters quickly. The starters were acceptable but nothing special. Our mains arrived at 9pm, double the time they had promised. I ordered the seafood platter, and my husband ordered the Rump Steak. Both dishes were disappointing. The Rump Steak looked dried and burnt, while the seafood platter looked like frozen items fried up and put on the plate. We had lost all our appetite, we were past our little boy's bedtime, and we asked for boxes to take away our food so it wouldn't go to waste. My husband complained to the owner, who did not offer a reasonable discount for the horrible experience and food we had. He kept saying they were short-staffed and had won awards for the best pub food. I believe that may have been true 20 years ago or in their dreams. The owner kept insisting that their food was fresh and the steak was straight off the grill, but it was clearly overcooked. The only discount we received was one drink. We ended up paying a bill of almost 60£ for food that our dog would eat. The place had leaks, and the toilets were in poor condition. Overall, it was a bad experience, and I would advise staying away from this awful place.
My family and I attended a wedding at this restaurant over the weekend. The food was excellent, the staff were extremely helpful, and every effort was made to ensure that everyone, from children to grandparents, had a fantastic time. Even the pickiest eaters were impressed by the high quality of the food. The bar had a great selection of drinks, including my favorite, Rhubarb and ginger gin. I was very satisfied and will definitely be visiting again.
Well kept and tasty cask ale at reasonable prices. Charming and knowledgeable staff, who tried their best to give good service Recommended
I phoned through to make a booking a week in hand as heard the restaurant can get busy. We met up with friends of ours in the bar and at first when i walked in i thought i booked the wrong pub as it was a small local pub with a few friendly locals and no restaurant i could see. After speaking with the bartender and said i had a table booked they told me they had no recollection of my booking...all 4 of us feeling a little bit disillusioned and disappointed because we were all hungry. The bartender went off to check with the manager and came back with an appologie and realized they made a mistake. We were then asked if we wanted to take a seat in there restaurant and from that point on our first impressions quickly turned into a lovely evening. Overall its a nice local pub with a nice pub side with dart board and barstools. Other side of tge bar is there restaurant which can occupy a good coach load of people.
I had a surprising experience at this restaurant, where they treat vegetarians just as well as meat eaters. It was a real treat to find a place that values all types of eaters.
