We had steak in mushroom sauce with fries and caramelised rib with fries. Steak was tender, mushroom sauce was amazing and handmade French fries were fantastic, ribs were great! We had profiteroles for dessert but were so full we couldn't finish them!Best meal we have had in France!
We went here last saturday to have lunch and we were the only guests. Nice looking interior, friendly service and very clean restaurant. We took the menu of 26,00 euro which consisted of an entree - choise between either snails and a tarte tatin of chicon and a local cheese - which was very good. Then we had also a choise of a main course between a turkey and cod nicoise. The cod I had was good, but the sauce was a bit too tomated. As desert we took the charlotte aux poires, which was about the second best desert I had in my whole life. It's a pity I can't give a 4,5 out of 5, because otherwise I would. My dad had the mussles with curry, which were also very good. A very nice experience.
We were driving to Lao for Sunday lunch and stopped off here by chance.Lovely people service excellent, food superb, you have wide choice menus, a la carte, well priced.Ambiance lovely the young chef has a great talent and cares about his food, came to the table after service had finished to chat.We speak excellent French but English menus translations are on offer.Looking forwards to returning.
Having sadly noted that our favourite restaurant in Laon had closed we were looking for others to try in the area. Coming across the Au Plaisir des Mets on Tripadvisor and reading the many positive comments, we booked for the Friday and Sunday evenings when we were staying for the nearby Golf Hotel whilst attending the Laon Classic Car event. Our party of four all really enjoyed the meals with each course being perfectly cooked and very well presented. With the menu only in French you do need to be familiar with the dishes if you are not a French speaker as the staff do not appear to speak English. It is a truly lovely little village restaurant and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for good food, a nice atmosphere and very pleasant surroundings. If you are staying in Laon it is well worth the 10 minute drive out of town
We booked on the strength of the reviews and four of us went for dinner on Sunday evening. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the chef wanted us to park our classic cars outside the main door. The restaurant is in a great location with off road parking, rustic and very well presented. We had a house carafe of red and white both of which were very good. My starter was great I liked my main which was which was 3 pieces of fish on 3 different vegetable pates of which one unfortunately, was that woody was inedible. The blow torch that was used on the creme brulee made the top sutty and taste of gas. The pork main was in a source with chips although very good was simple. Although we liked our visit and the majority of the food was good but let down in the detail, we have had as good if not better for less money.
