I watched 2 people move from one table to another and at no time did anyone bother to clean the table for the next customers. The people who came in after us sat at the unserviced table unaware it hadn't been cleaned. None of us had a menu After our being there for at least 15 minutes the other patrons got up and chased down a server to take their order. We got up and left. I've been really pleased with the food and service prior. Slow service is one thing but the lack of sanitary practices is concerning. I can't comment on the food as we never even got a menu or water this time after over 15 minutes of waiting.
The Timberland Pub is located in Cassidy, a small town just between Nanaimo and Ladysmith. They have daily specials, which they proudly list outside and inside of the place. The fries are great, as is the poutine. But the real shine are most definitely the specials. The Tuesday night Burger and Fries is absolutely awesome, as is the Fish and Chips on Mondays. On Wednesdays they serve prawns at $0.40 a piece (but you have to order them in multiples of 10 anyway), though you can 't get the prawns to go as it is an in-house item only. It 's a nice place to go any day of the week if you 're just up the road from it, my only critique is that there 's Chef 's Specials on Fridays, but all of them are listed at regular price anyway. And if you 're looking for a bit of spice, they also have an entire curry menu based on indian cuisine. The samosas are damn tasty as are the pakoras, though they definitely have a bite to them. And the best part of the Timberland is that everything is cheap. Me and two buddies go in there, we all eat until we 're full, and we leave with a $20 bill (plus tip). It 's hard to find a place this tasty for this cheap!
Had classic fish and chips (halibut).WOW, beautifully done. Very impressed.Hit all the notes on service, quality, and taste. We also had the Pea soup, and again, that was a full hearty meal all on its own, and great value for money!Observed other fare coming out of the kitchen, and everything was 2 thumbs up.Will definitely be back.
It's a locals pub off the beaten path. My burger was good, their specialty one is the only one house made. Hubby's asian dish was a special of the night and he thought it was ok. The place could use a good cleaning and tidying up to make the atmosphere less dingy.
Pub type food but it was very good service was ok ? atmosphere pub style not for some
