Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen - Charlotte

I recently dined at Cheddar's and found it to be a mixed experience. While the service was lacking, I understand they were short-staffed, so I’m willing to give them a pass. On the positive side, the baby back ribs were juicy, flavorful, and practically falling off the bone, and the broccoli casserole was excellent! However, the steak was a bit tough, and the fries didn’t taste very fresh. Additionally, there wasn't a bartender available, so I couldn’t order my favorite frozen drink. I've had better experiences there, so I might give them another chance in the future.

The host was extremely disrespectful when I asked for a booth, despite the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty. The presentation of my meal was stunning, but as I started to eat, there was this chewy thing that wouldn’t dissolve in my mouth, which completely ruined my experience.

We were initially told there would be a 20-minute wait, but we ended up waiting around 40 minutes instead. Our server wasn’t very friendly and seemed indifferent to her job. While my meal was good, my husband received the wrong dish. When we asked the manager about the missing portion of the T-bone steak, he explained that the steaks are prepackaged. We pointed out that it looked like someone had already cut into it, and he replied that his staff knows better because he would impose serious consequences on them. The steak was meant to be well done, but it was charred and needed to be cooked longer because it wasn't prepared as we requested. With such disappointing customer service, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

The chicken tenders and honey butter croissants were fantastic! However, I was a bit disappointed with the fries and broccoli cheese casserole. Additionally, we had to wait quite a while for our server to return, though I understand that staffing issues may have contributed to that.

There were some mix-ups with the orders, which I'm sure were due to the busy atmosphere. She efficiently took down the orders for each couple, but some of us found our fries to be lukewarm, and a few had specific requests for their burgers that didn’t quite make it to the final dish. Additionally, a couple of the steaks were excessively spicy with pepper. Overall, despite the hectic environment, we had a great night. I hope we can return during the daytime when things might be calmer. Of course, we plan to visit again in the snowbird season!
