We only ate at the restaurant and did not stay at the hotel. The hotel is a historical landmark in the town of Clare and we went because one of us went there once every summer as a child. If you’re looking for Americana “meat-n-potatoes” type fare then you’re in the right place. Everything was clean and seems to have had some decor updates in the recent past. The pot roast was tasty and the bread that contained the lamb stew was good, as was the orange sorbet. The calamari was tasteless and appeared to be served with a “canned” marinara type of sauce. That said, it’s doubtful we will return.

Very classy hotel they have a restaurant in the hotel but I didn't eat there but I did see the menu and everything looked delicious. The rooms were clean and the pool was nice they had a Jacuzzi also next to the pool. Nearby activities: The Cop Donut Bakery. The Michigan Rock Store, Walkability: Lots of different stores in walking distance Food drinks: Food and drinks available in the hotel, but you can also go for a walk and find stores and restaurants with spirits available really close by.

I don’t even know where to start! First let me say the guy working nights was amazing! My first room was a king bed( it equated to a bunk bed mattress on an ikea frame. No soaps, old dressers and lamps and musty and then was moved to a double queen. Beds were new and slept well however, to say outdated and over priced is an understatement. No soaps, banged up furniture and no plug ins for a phone, however I found one behind the mattress. 185.00 was ridiculous. Rooms: Outdated, musty, and barebones. The bed set higher than the tv cabinet. Little tv too. I sorta felt like it was a college dorm.i really want to add these photos but can’t

We have been here several times. The history of it is fascinating... but the hotel itself is going downhill. The rooms were dirty, toilet didn't flush right, couldn't control the air conditioner. Went to their restaurant and my brother tried to order his favorite beer.. they didn't have it... or the next one... or the next... seems their cooler was down. Instead of telling us what they did have, they let us guess, over and over again. Went to have their free continental breakfast, which was supposed to be running until 10 am... but they had all closed down before 9 am. I don't know if it is new ownership or what... but we were disappointed.
