We were so excited to return to The Churchill Arms, where the whole team are working together to create the perfect dining experience, The Sunday lunches, beautifully presented. are quite honestly the best we have ever tasted. On our last visit we ordered fish and chips, again cooked to perfection and looked so appealing. We can't wait to return later in the year.
A well balanced well prepared home made personalised meal, quality ingredients, balanced with a well presented front of house service. Since it was the first day of opening, 3 of us tested the menu and the chef to a vast selection of their menu , which all came out together, presented well and seasoned well, menu well thought out and cooked to perfection. starters Salmon Soufflé, Caramel onion Scotch egg, and confit duck all recommendable. Mains were Fillet Steak, Venison and Pie of the day to die for in a positive sense, with Ginger sponge, Fudge , sour dough and a selection of hand made warm alcoholic drinks, All in all a positive friendly experience, and one you should try yourselves!
We were staying in Paxford for a family trip between Christmas and new year and couldn’t have been happier with our local. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the pub was just the right level of buzzy/busy but you could still get a seat when you walked in. A great selection of drinks and very pretty with a real fire. Worth a visit if you’re staying in Paxford or walking through.
What an amazing dinner! I’d booked for my husband’s birthday as we were staying in the Cotswolds, and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but it surpassed every expectation. The pub itself is quite small, and manages to feel both modern and cosy. The unassuming set up and really welcoming staff meant I wasn’t expecting Michelin standard dishes but the food was truly exceptional. The beef Wellington was the best we’ve tried (the Savoy included) it was a huge portion, cooked to perfection and presented really beautifully. Our soup starter was also lovely, and the arancini amuse bouche was a nice touch, too. The quality of the dishes merit the prices. To comment on some previous reviews, it’s true that there isn’t a car park but not surprising for a small, local pub in a small village. If it’s a quiet night (as it was when we visited), it’s possible to park next to the pub but otherwise there are other places in the surrounding area. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
