What made that even worse is we had a big group so she got a $50 tip for doing the bare minimum. My family brought a cake for my birthday and we were told we could not cut/serve it ourselves, they would have to do it for a fee of $25. $25 to cut the cake that I brought!!?? Absurd! The only thing that was cut wasour evening, we ended up having to take the cake back home to finish the celebration. Really sad about this. Original post: First visit here. Ordered burger, chicken fried steak, taters, Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. We also gotlucky and went on Throwdown Thursday and had half price drinks! The perfect margarita was really good and the cocktails were delicious!
This was a first time experience. The atmosphere was nice and the service was amazing. Our food came out quickly. Probably quicker than I ever had anywhere else. I tried the first menu option, the bowl I think it was called, and it wasn't what I expected. My waitress took it back with a smile. Next thing I know, the manager Aaron comes out and apologizes and tells me my next order is coming quickly. We talked about what I didn't like about my first order and he guaranteedthat I would like what was coming next! The next thing I ordered was like a big breakfast sort of thing. Definitely better and met my expectations. The whole experience was worth my hour drive and I told Aaron that my husband and I woulddefinitely be back and would tell others. My husband initially ordered the big breakfast and was never disappointed lol.
I love Ellen's their Fried chicken is the best. It has a delicious crust and everything just tastes like it's a delicious homemade dinner. The service is always good and fast. Plus, the atmosphere is nice too.
My partner and I were looking for a nice spot for brunch and decided to stop by while downtown. I had seen some pretty favorable reviews for Ellen 's. So great reviews coupled with the fact that they serve some good southern food we figured we couldn 't go wrong. We arrived at about 1:30 and were greeted by a nice hostess and sat in a booth immediately. The place is cozy and everyone was friendly. For starters, we ordered Joe 's Gritty Balls. Now when I read deep fried cheese grits , I didn 't know how that would work. But after tasting them I immediately knew. They were yummy! Crisp on the outside and almost like a hush puppy of sorts on the inside. They also had the right balance of cheese and spice from the jalapeño. Right as we each finished up one Gritty Ball, our entrees came out fast! I wasn 't in the mood for breakfast so I opted for the Buttermilk Fried Chicken that comes with sides. I choose Mac cheese and green beans. With all the savory flavors I needed a sweet balance, so I also ordered a la carte sweet potatoes. My partner ordered the Big Breakfast; two eggs any style, hash browns, bacon and sausage and two huge pancakes. Everything was great! Full of flavor, perfect temperature and huge portions; so much so we had plenty to take home. Ellen 's was great and we will absolutely be back soon!

Breakfast patties frozen in culinary purgatory, thawed only by the desperate pleas of a microwave. Eggs? Miniature masterpieces of blandness, lost on the vast plate. Every bite felt like an audition for Blandest Bites: Breakfast Edition. Act Two: The Service Shenanigans. Imagine a play where the barkeep forgets everything from your name to your mimosa. Three curtain calls later, your drink arrives, abandoned stage left, forcing you to perform in the one-woman show Fetching My Own Cocktail. My grits? A latecomer, gracing the stage ten minutes after breakfast 's final bow. Act Three: The Grand Finale of Fumbles. Dishes waltz back to the kitchen, their culinary performance deemed subpar. My macchiato? A flavorless shadow of its creamy, caramel-kissed self. The only applause came from the fire alarm, triggered by someone 's overcooked omelet. Curtain falls. Ellen 's, you delivered a performance so bad, it left me humming the theme song to Kitchen Nightmares. With so many talented restaurants competing for my palate 's praise, consider this review your one-way ticket to the off-Broadway circuit of culinary mediocrity. First time, last time, indeed.
