Besides the usual tours around Bohol, we alloted one day just to go to the resorts own natural attractions and areas around it. Start your day by scheduling a guided tour to the resort's own cave (Cambagat Cave), the cave is a bit small but is well lit and well maintained, you may swim if you want to, the bats won't mind you. When your done request for a free ride towards the resort entrance. From there you may walk to Bohol's famous Hinagdanan Cave, hire a guide, it's optional but I would really recommended it. Just give a generous tip as he will be your guide/cameraman/director. You'll be safe and have a ton of photos/videos once you go out of the cave. When your done caving, walk back to the main entrance of the resort and request for a ride back to the restaurant by the pool. Since we were wet from swimming at the cave we chose to eat by the pool. We ordered pizza and drinks. We ordered Four cheese pizza for the kids and Ube Salted Egg Pizza for us must try! Next up us snorkeling at the marine sanctuary near the resort. Make sure to reserve your slot a day prior. They recommend for you to go snorkeling in the morning, but since we had a tight schedule we opted for afternoon. The fee includes a short boat ride for six people going to the marine sanctuary, environmental fee, and bread to attract the fishes. Additional persons can join for a minimal fee. You may also rent snorkeling gear or like us, we brought our own. ps. We left our daughter with her grandma at the resort while we were snorkeling, only six of us went snorkeling. After heading back to the resort... try to visit the dream islet as you can catch the sunset there. We went there the previous day so we just went swimming at the pool. The water of the pool is salt water by the way so don't expect to get freshened up with fresh chlorinated water after swimming in the sea. The water in the pool is a bit warm, so it relaxes you a bit. They have two pool areas, a majestic infinity pool near the restaurant and a serene lap pool near the spa. We didn't get to try the spa and other amenities of the resort as our kids just want to swim. Definitely will come back given the chance.
My favourite resort in Bohol. We stayed for a week and it was fantastic. We tried the jacuzzi villas and deluxe rooms, both were amazing. The facilities are great and the staff was amazing. Very attentive and warm. The landscaping is beautiful and the private beach is perfect. The lifeguard Edward even showed us some nice places for snorkeling. It was so pretty and the whole experience was just 100% amazing. Pro tip: call for reservations and speak to the resort directly. They have some older rooms available (not shown on booking websites). These rooms were only 3500 and considering you get full use of the resort facilities and free buffet breakfast, these rooms are a fantastic value for your money. I do recommend renting a motorbike if you plan on leaving the resort. It is nice enough to stay in the resort the whole time but in case you want to try different restaurants or places in Panglao, then renting a motorcycle would be the best option. We love Mithi and I have always recommended it to family and friends.
Breakfast was decent, but for lunch and dinner, I recommend seeking alternative options, especially if you're with international guests, as the menu doesn't cater well to them. Avoid ordering the ribs, as you’ll end up with mostly bones for 1,000 pesos—definitely not worth it. We waited an hour for our food, which was disappointing; even the veggie salad wasn't fresh. The rooms were adequate, but the service left much to be desired. There were ongoing maintenance issues, which made our stay noisy and less relaxing, as work began quite early in the morning. Though the resort has great potential, poor, slow, and unfriendly service, along with a limited restaurant menu, really detracts from the experience.
The rooms were disappointing, featuring windows that didn't close properly, allowing lizards, cockroaches, and insects to come inside at night. While we understand that this can occur in a nature resort, it’s clear that the windows need to be fixed to enhance the overall experience for guests. We checked in at night and were informed that both of our rooms were the same; however, one was actually superior. We had to switch rooms twice due to issues in each one, including broken wiring and windows that wouldn't close. Additionally, for a hotel in the Philippines, where it’s typically hot, there were no air-conditioned areas other than the bedrooms, and even in the restaurant, the air conditioning was only turned on sporadically for one meal a day. Some staff members were wonderful and friendly, but service was often slow. The Wi-Fi connection was also unreliable, only lasting for 5-10 minutes at a time. Overall, I wouldn't consider returning to this hotel unless significant improvements were made.
Unfortunately, our stay got off to a rocky start. At 3 AM, we were startled awake by a large rat in our room! To add to the situation, I also found a tokay gecko in the bathroom, which triggered a panic attack for my wife. The staff offered little assistance, and I had to insist on being moved to another cottage, with no apologies for the disturbance. We ended up waiting for an hour on the veranda in the rain for someone to respond. The next morning, when I informed the front desk, they seemed surprised, acting as if nothing had happened. Thankfully, after speaking with the manager, we were moved to a superior villa. Regarding the accommodations, the quality varies widely. Here’s a summary of our room experiences: **Rooms:** 1. **Room 1319 (Oldest Superior Forest)**: 1/5 – Rodent issues, stuffy, mediocre bedding, small TV with limited channels and poor reception, spotty WiFi, and limited cell signal (Smart/Sun). 2. **Room 1310 (Old Superior Forest)**: 3/5 – Better ambiance with vibrant walls, but still mediocre bedding. The AC blew directly onto the bed, small TV with similar limited channels but slightly improved reception, better WiFi, and no cell coverage. 3. **Room 1408 (Superior Villa)**: 3/5 – Nicely furnished with better bedding, small TV with good reception, reliable WiFi, but issues with the bathroom fixtures and dripping AC, along with good cell coverage. **Staff**: 4/5 – Aside from the front desk staff during the rodent incident, the rest of the personnel were generally friendly and accommodating. I inquired multiple times about island tour options, but although they promised to call back, they never did. **Food**: 4/5 – The breakfast buffet was decent, and I particularly enjoyed the ube pan de sal and local tsokolate. The hours could be extended from 6-9 AM to at least 10:30 AM for better convenience. The à la carte menu was somewhat limited, yet the food quality and portion sizes were satisfactory. **Beach**: 4/5 – The beach features fine white sand and warm water, although there was some litter along the rocks and crevices. They have a small private island in front, which is good for snorkeling with various fish sanctuaries nearby. **Pool**: 5/5 – The infinity saltwater pools offer stunning views and are pleasantly warm. **Location**: 3/5 – It’s ideal for those seeking a secluded retreat, but it’s quite far from Alona beach and the new restaurants (Molly's/Mist). A tricycle ride could cost around P300 one way, so renting a scooter would be much more convenient during your stay. **Sports Facilities/Spa**: 3/5 – The resort has a gym, game room, and tennis courts, but these facilities are starting to show their age and could use some renovations. I didn’t get a chance to visit the spa during our trip. Overall, our experience at Mithi was average. While I can recommend the resort with some caution, I will definitely think twice about returning.
