Knowing the area somewhat, we expected that it was there to take advantage of the park and ski area, which caters to folks from the larger cities in DC, Northern VA etc! We were visiting Blackwater SP and staying nearby and was looking for a good place to eat. Canaan Valley BBQ did not disappoint. Opened since 2019, the restaurant is warm and relaxed, offers a variety of bbq options, and decent proportions. Exploring the area and decided to eat here for lunch, it did not disappoint and super happy we decided to choose this place. Food was great, staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very nice inside and clean. Would be a regular if I lived local.
We had the double trouble. Entrees were flavorful and served very quickly. Sides of Mac and cheese good but green beans did not have the flavor we expected (the manager explained that they were a healthy option). Servers were quick and delivered food promptly. We ate outside and enjoyed the area. Overall would recommend.
The food and service were great and the restaurant itself is basically brand new (at the time of this review). Everything is clean and well maintained and is a true diamond in the rough. My only downside is it's a bit pricey (as most things nowadays), but otherwise a great experience.
