The staff was very helpful and friendly, but the food is the star. You also have a very beautiful and extensive wine map. On food: we had pork and pumpkins, green beans with pork, rice noodles with beef and stir fried pumpkins. All were excellent in taste and food quality. They give you plenty of food. As I wish, in my hometown something was so good. This place is not a secret, so reserve good.
Surely a quantum leap over Lotus restaurants in Barangaroo Chinese gardens . This new summer hill egg was the most beautiful. Nice staff, good food a wide selection of beautiful ricelings. Of course, the prices of Summer Hill are well above some of the really excellent Chinese restaurants just on the street in Ashfield. If you want to live in Summer Hill something nearby it is worth trying
I would have the overall experience here as 3.5 stars due to a quirky experience with the server at the night we took part in that put out some of our party. It wasn't a bad service, just a little weird. For example, telling someone he lives a little when they ordered a soft drink. It was just a quirky sense of humor that didn't bother me, but annoyed someone in our party. But the food was very good. We had the Vivid special crab dumplings that were excellent. We also shared a number of larger plates of yarn and chicken dishes. Both were excellent. Eating is 4 stars, service 3. I'd eat here again if I were in the Walsh Bay Area.
Visited on Friday night after work, booked a table for 5.15 pm. Not busy at all. We sat down at the front table inside and we were offered a large cold bottle of sparkling mineral water, poured into 3 glasses (and it was empty). Three...of us, my wife and I and a close friend who had been here a few times before. Given the menus, we asked a chap who seated us, to take our order and he looked at us blankly and then looked at a young girl who was also at the counter. She asked what we said and I said can you take our order please. She also looked blank and looked to another person in the kitchen. The restaurant opens at 5.00 pm and it was now about 5.30 pm. I said again, order? And we started saying what we wanted. She started writing it down and when she had it all, she read it back to us. Not sure what happened there but could be new staff. Our friend said the 'boss ' wasn 't there, so inexperienced staff probably. So we ordered all the dishes to share. Mushroom dumplings (3 pieces) $12; Pan-Fried chicken and kimchi dumplings $13; Steamed barramundi fillet with kale, ginger and shallots $36: Steamed rice $4 P/P; Jade prawn dumpling $16. I drank a cold glass of 2019 Artemis, Sauvignon Blanc, Southern Highlands, NSW $14; and our friend had a cocktail, I think it was a Ruby Tuesday $9 (Happy Hour) consisting of Rosemary infused Aperol, Ruby grapefruit, tonic and prosecco. A fairly expensive menu, for a lot of small serves. The barramundi plate was quite small and would serve one person comfortably. We thought the dumplings weren 't fresh and they seemed to have been covered with oil, not at all the way to make steamed dumplings. My wife thought that the fish wasn 't fresh either. I wanted dessert, but there wasn 't any available. Then we were told that we had no more time as our table had been booked for 6.30 pm. We hadn 't been told about that until the end of our meal, so I paid in cash and we left. The staff seemed cold and uninterested and the mood was solemn. We were seated at the front window and we watched outside at the passing crowd. So would we go back, not very likely.
The food is okay, but the service is very poor and there is no atmosphere. The staff seems to just want to quickly drop off your food without any care or style. This is the only restaurant where people have asked me to leave as soon as I finished dessert. Definitely a place to avoid.
