I wish their food was more consistent, been there for dinner and ordered lunch several times and the flavor varies a bit (pesto especially). One lunch was served with slivers of garlic bread and the next time huge chunks. Haven't been able to try their steak yet, it's never available when I order. I hope to see their menu grow. It's a beautiful restaurant and service is always good. Certainly worth coming back!
I was very disappointed in our meal last night. I have never given a google review and my husband told me not to, but I just feel like I have to express our disappointment and maybe my critique can help the place to become better. I am giving it 1 star because our server was very nice and the appetizer was pretty good. My husband ordered the lasagna. It looked nothing like lasagna. It was small, flat, and looked like something from the kids menu. He was done with it in about 5 bites. There weren't really any layers. I wish I had taken a picture. The server made a comment and said she wondered when she brought it out because it didn't look right, but the chef told her it's fine. She offered another piece, but it wasn't good, so no, we didn't want anymore. And it cost $15! I ordered the tuscan chicken. I did get alot of pasta, but that was it. The sauce was bland, no taste. The server told me it would have spinach in it-I had about 4 leaves of spinach! I got about 5-6 pieces of cubed dry chicken. I tried to flavor it with pepper and parmesan cheese, but it just wasn't good. It was the 1st time I did not take home my leftovers. Me and my husband thought long and hard and decided this is the worst place we have ever eaten. It's too bad because the concept is great, the atmosphere is nice, but they definitely need a new chef. Maybe Gordon Ramsey should come in and show them how it's done. He would have been appalled by the cubes of dry chicken, bland sauce, and flat lasagna!
Love going to Tony's. Just wondering if the recipes have changed in about the last three or four weeks. Went a few times before the new chef and this time everything tasted different, portions changed, salad and dressing different. We felt as though the spaghetti marinara sauce was thinner and the meatballs were absolutely different than when Tony's first opened. Will probably go back but just wondered why the change in everything? When it was so absolutely fantastic prior to this last visit!
This is a difficult review because I want them to succeed (and I hope they do), but...the order of calamari was a single layer of 6 small circles. When we order calamari at a restaurant, it always comes piled on a plate. Our small appetizer plate held what looked like six anemic deep-fried rubber bands. That said, despite the miserly portion size, it was tasty. But, way over priced. The spaghetti and meatballs lacked flavor. The lasagna was OK. The cheese bread was OK. We left most of it on the table. All the things I mentioned are easy fixes so Tony's Italian Bistro, please spice up the spaghetti sauce a bit, get real with the calamari, and try a different bread for the cheesy bread.
The food, service and atmosphere is amazing! Very quaint and cozy! I definitely recommend the lemon garlic shrimp with pesto linguine and the cheesy garlic bread. So good! And, my man had the chicken parmesan with linguine and Cajun sauce and really liked the cajun sauce. Our waitress, Brandi was prompt and courteous.
