Great German dishes. I mean… pork knuckle , schnitzel and apple cake. Good location in the city centre. Very efficient service.
I am surprised by the good reviews for this establishment. It smells really bad of old oil, which is really off putting. Beer was OK. Toilets do not flush properly. We opted not to eat here. Loads of locals enjoying some beer and playing games...which was the best part of the visit.
We had dinner here tonight and it was really good value. Two of us had the schnitzel and the other had the beef and dumplings, plus a local beer each. We were the only English speaking people there but the owner and bar attendant went...out of their way to make sure we understood the menu, and they were lovely to deal with Everyone else there were locals so that’s a great sign The cost was cheap and the meals huge Do yourself a favour and go!
This tavern is located on the main street that leads from the gate and the car parking to the center of the town. That’s why I expected the food there to be so-so, like in any place in a touristy area, and the prices very...high. To my surprise that was not the case. First I saw their menu, and the prices of EUR7.80 for salmon and EUR 10.40 for the trout; they looked like prices from kid’s menu, and I expected to see small portions. We decided to go to this place because we were very hungry. The customers were all locals, and the owner (I think he was the owner) did not speak English much. Despite that he was very friendly, and we felt welcome at that place. I asked him what kind of beer they had on draft, and he just showed me to follow him behind the bar where he poured half a mug of beer just for me to try (no charge, I only had to pay for what I ordered later). We ordered the whole trout, a schnitzel and some other meat dish with potatoes. The portions were quite generous (definitely not from the kid’s menu), and the food tasted great (please see the pictures that I have posted here) I highly recommend visiting this place when you are in Dinkelbuhl to have lunch or dinner, and I guess if you’re staying at their guest house, the breakfast should be just as great. Two thumbs up!!!
