I went here with my husband. My god how are they still allowed to serve food?? The place is filthy. I am not even going to say what we ordered as it was so dirty we did not eat.
Dropped in here today with my daughter for lunch whilst strolling through pretty Glasthule. .... and now really wish I hadn 't. I suppose the smokers blocking the doorway should have been a sign, and then the chef in a grubby outfit behind the bar. Nevertheless we were in and so we ordered 2 soups and 2 hot joint sandwiches. Soup was lukewarm leek potato and the 2 joint sandwiches were actually thinly sliced (packet) ham on white, and pork on the other. No dressings, no salad, no crisps nothing else. Quite sure the bread wasn 't the freshest either. 2 glasses of water and the bill came to €22.00 !! I ended up apologising to my daughter for bringing her to such a soul less place for such an awful lunch. And even now, writing this my stomach isn 't feeling the better of it. For such a lovely village, with plenty of other options for lunch this is one to avoid. Surely whoever owns this place can do much better than this.
A visit to the Eagle House in Glasthule is a MUST.... a warm welcome was received when we visited today. The backround music was easy listening and it was pitch perfect,..no problems hearing my partner as we chatted. 2 televisions on silently in the lounge, so sporting fans were catered for. We ordered food... served hot and delicious. I have severe allergies and my requirements were carefully listened to, and my roast turkey and ham dinner was delicious. My partner had 'wonderful ' crisp fish and chips with peas and salad on the side, and priced very reasonably. This traditional pub was spotless clean, as were the bathrooms. 10 out of 10 folks..... we 'll be back.
I had the wonderfully delicious fish chowder, it was a really great meal, tasted great and the consistensy of the fish was superb. However, I sadly got food poisoning from it. Suppose something was not done correctly in that kitchen. A shame :
