The menu was limited, but all dishes could be made gluten-free if they weren't already. Our server was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and confident. The food was delightful, the gluten-free porter was delicious, and we ended the meal with a shared pavlova. We also enjoyed a whisky flight, which had a wide selection and interesting flavor profiles that were described in a humorous and entertaining way. Our server, Louis (or possibly Lewis), was charming and went above and beyond to provide us with information. It was evident that he was passionate and knowledgeable about his craft, making him a professional in the world of alcoholic beverages.
I had previously enjoyed several positive experiences at this restaurant, so I decided to have my birthday meal at their Queen Street location. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. It has been years since I have received such poor service and had such an unsatisfactory experience. The service at our local cafe far surpasses what was offered to us. Adding to the disappointment, my two attempts to contact the restaurant's management have been met with silence. I was eager to provide constructive feedback in hopes of improving service for others. This restaurant is not a budget option, so they really need to step up their game.
My father and I recently visited the Scotch Malt Whisky Society for a meal and some drinks. We sat in the cozy downstairs bar, which had a charming interior that felt like a blast from the past. Sam and Matt took care of us and recommended some delicious dishes and drinks. We both decided on the fish and chips, paired with a speyside scotch. The food and drinks were top-notch and the recommendations were spot on. Whether you're in Edinburgh for any reason, this place is a must-visit. We couldn't have asked for better food, drinks, and service from Sam and Matt, who were attentive and gave us great tips for the rest of our trip.
We visited the Queen St venue for a quick dram and would up staying for 3 hours! Excellent service, amazing selection of malts, and really good lunch menu. We returned a few days later for drinks an lunch. For lunch and early afternoon the place is pretty quiet and this a great option to avoid the often over-crowded restaurants and pubs.
We enjoyed an hour sampling some whiskey Lovely bar , pleasant atmosphere We love whiskey but prefer to visit the distillery’s , not try to guess Also very expensive if I’m honest It was £15 more than the previous night for 4 dram’s I’m grateful that there was no hard sell
