Been a very long tume since I had the experience of the cooking at the table and didn't remember it. It was fun and the chef we had was very funny. Good way to celebrate my birthday and another person we were there with.
Had my Birthday Dinner there with family. Food was great! Chef was great! We had so much fun!!!!
I dined in here with my girlfriend, her parents and my friends for my birthday. I have never had a poorer experience in my life at a habatchi restaurant. Our chef did not interact with us at all outside of the onion volcano, he was too busy making the carry out orders alongside our food. I have never been to a restaurant where they make to go orders with our food. The food is incredibly expensive, the portions are small, you do not get fried rice or noodles with your meal. They upcharge if you want that. You will pay 34 dollars for 10 shrimp, a small portion of sautéed zucchini, mushrooms and onions, SAUTÉED BEANSPROUTS?!, and a bowl of white rice. I am willing to pay for mediocre food and a good show, good food and a poor show, but this was both. I strongly recommend Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse, their food tastes better, better quality and your dinner actually comes with a show. They will squirt sake in your mouth, do tricks with their tools and *interact with you as they cook your meal*
We made reservations for 2 and a high chair for a special occasion, and day of called in advance due to a bad accident that was going to make us late, they said they were busy and we may have to wait a little bit, but still come. We were 30 minutes late, and had to wait over an hour to be seated. They were so rude each time we asked for any update. We should have left, but at that point, we were invested. Then, our chef was not fun, had no personality, which you go to Hibachi partially for the experience, so that was disappointing. The food had gone done in quality and taste, and as soon as we got all of our food, she bright us boxes and the check. Then they add 20% tip to your bill, which is fine, but they then give you a bill to sign that shows suggested 20% tip, 35% etc. really that would be 40% tip!!! I wonder how many people have mistakenly given them so much of a tip. There is another place in university place in Tacoma, just google hibachi Tacoma, go there. This place is ick.
I've never done hibachi before, the chef and servers were so nice and funny, and the food was delicious. I will say I wish they put some fish sauce in the fried rice to really kick it up but the portions were so giant and yummy.
