Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónWe wandered in here between lunch and dinner on a Saturday when, very luckily , there weren’t many people around. We basically had free run of the place, which was great. The bottom level of this place has a lovely kids play area with toys and lots of space for them to run around. Our 14 month old had had a very full day of sitting in prams and car seats, and was so over it. It was great to have somewhere to just let him crawl around and be crazy. That alone would be enough for me to recommend this place, but the food is also essentially without parallel. This is hands down the best burger I’ve had in Sydney in 4 years living here, and I highly recommend it. We saw a post about their fondue burger on Cheese Insider, and that’s what originally made us check out this place. Do be aware though that this was actually a temporary special they had. The fondue burger is not on the menu any more. However, because it was so quiet, they were amazing and made it for me anyway. If you look at the menu, you will also see they have a tonne of fun burger hacks things you can add to your burger that make it absolutely sensational. We live an hour away, but we’ll be back we loved it!
The Hanging Ladder is a great venue that offers a large variety of dishes from breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, salad and more. Plus Campos coffee of course.Came here with other burger lovers, we share several meals starting with their unique Burger High Tea, Say Cheese Burger, Waffle Fried Chicken, Breakfast High Tea and more. Everything that I had was beautiful. Love the crispy onion rings, tasty wedges and the slider (and it went next level with the extra cheese poured on top! . Soft bun and juicy patty, yum. And the bbq sauce that came with the burger high tea, delish! I loved dipping my onion rings and wedges in it.The waffle and fried chicken was one of my favourites. The sweetness from the maple syrup blended nicely with the savoury fried chicken and waffle. Definitely worth a visit.
Best burgers in Balmain will definitely be back again to try the fried chicken burg. If you haven't been yet you musr go and smash their burgs n beers!
Situated between the Rozelle and Balmain cafe hubs the HL offers something a little quieter, and a lost less frantic. Got the impression the current crew are newish as service seemed a little disorganised however on a Sunday morning when time is not the enemy it mattered not. The usual array of cafe breakfast items in the main, I opted for salsa eggs and a black coffee. Coffee was excellent with no bitterness at all and good flavours. Salsa eggs had the eggs perhaps a little over on the poach but still running atop a couple of crusty sour dough slices. Salsa lacked a little zing for me but overall, a tasty dish. DG had the Bircher muesli which was generous in serve and had a very tasty grain mix. A dish worth a try for the next time. All the usual seat options, high bar, in and out doors table and a bit of a retro feel marks HL as better than many in the area.
This is my favourite cafe in Sydney. Wether you're after Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch or Coffee...it's the best! Nothing on their menu disappoints. You'll always be greeted with a smile wave from the staff. Their well designed courtyard is filled with edible plants and funky frog ceramics. It's even dog friendly, so you can bring the pup along! Every time I've brought friends along to the cafe they've thanked me for it. Considering the number of cafes in Balmain it's amazing that this one blows away all the competition.
