Le Grand Cafe - Fontainebleau

A real discovery in the beautiful center of Fontainebleau. We had lunch with four (starters and main course) and both quality of the food and service were great. The cosy ambiance of the venue topped it off. Surely a place we’ll return to in the coming weeks.

We’ve gone over a handful of times and everything has been great! Food has been wonderful and great service. Especially from Cecille! She has been very kind and helpful with explaining the menu and helping us order!

Stopped here for lunch after a visit to Fontainebleau palace. It was a pretty day and the outdoor tables were very busy. We ordered the chef's hamburgers. The French have adopted the American hamburger and made it their own, using quality meat and gourmet ingredients. Le Grand Cafe's version was pretty good. However, we had a lot of trouble with the service. The servers were friendly but extremely busy. I think the restaurant skimps on staff. I had to ask three times for salt for my fries before got any even though there were salt shakers on other tables. Our server broke a wine glass while serving the table next to us. No big deal, accidents happen. She took away a few of the bigger pieces of glass, but 20 to 30 minutes later no one had come to sweep up the rest of the broken glass although you could see it on the ground in between the tables. It also took us three requests to get our check. We waited a long time. I understand that in France it's not considered good form to bring the check before it's requested. But we DID request the check multiple times and still had to wait a very long time. As we left, still no one had come to sweep up the broken glass.

Friendly house and attentive server. Upstairs, the decoration is directed cinema with beautiful pictures. Quick service and good dishes.

The drinks are fine, the very average service. We waited so long just to drink a beer and a glass of wine. And I had to run after the check!Woefully I'm honest, otherwise we could've gone a lot without paying!
