Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónExcellent food, all beers excellent, two need to be pointed out especially: the brown beer following the bohemian style, which is not so common in Austria, and the midium, the first lager style beer with less than alcohol I ever drank, that was really...good, no reason to drink a stronger beer. You visit Freistadt you have to go there. Unfortunately I found out too late, that they serve starting at p.m. a second unfiltered beer called Kellerbier from a wooden cask so I cannot comment on this highly interesting beer. The only point of discomfort was to find out that after consuming beers, two starters, and two main courses, they also charged the tap water. Do not get me worng, I do not complain that the price was in general too high, for this quality there is no reason to charge less, but a few decades ago in Austria it was the standard to serve tap water automatically as a free addition to beer or wine, a sensable tradiotion, whichis widely lost, but charging tap water, if the customer does consume a decent amount of food and drink, is not at all accaptable, therefore no chance of a fifth star. Sorry!
A lively spot in town. Great food and beer brewed on the premises. The soup is great, apple strudel the best we had in two weeks. Really enjoyed our time here.
Excellent food, all beers excellent, two need to be pointed out especially: the brown beer following the bohemian style, which is not so common in Austria, and the midium, the first lager style beer with less than 4% alcohol I ever drank, that was really good, no reason to drink a stronger beer. Unfortunately I found out too late, that they serve starting at 6 p.m. a second unfiltered beer called Kellerbier from a wooden cask so I cannot comment on this highly interesting beer. The only point of discomfort was to find out that after consuming 7 beers, two starters, and two main courses, they also charged the tap water. Brewed on the premises, the German-Austrian style beer is actually excellent. Food was up to par with what other traditional Gasthaüser offer. A tad less expensive may be. Should you decide to have lunch there, make sure to arrive early (around 11/11:30) as the place is always fully booked for the 1pm service.
This place is terrible. Good beer but a totally inhumane “dog parking lot”, and totally rude and disinterested staff. No dogs outside in the garden or inside. Totally unreasonable. No reason to drive all the way to Freistadt to be treated this way, I’ll never be coming back.
