The waitress then appeared seconds later and before we had removed our coats asked what drinks we would like, we ordered a large wine and a coke, I wanted a bottle...of wine but hadn’t had chance to look. Before leaving the table she said to us” you can go straight to the carvery, I’ll give you tickets, and then we will bring your drinks. I commented to my husband we were being processed, not served. We hadn’t even looked at the menu, I still had my coat on. It seemed so strange not to be offered a starter or be allowed to wait for a while and collect our thoughts and look at a menu. On booking online, after it said fully booked, the place was deserted, think other tables were eating. The carver chef was very pleasant but the food was freezing cold and looked like it had been out all day, the sauces were almost empty and looked messy and the gravy looked historic with a skin on top. I did not complain, it felt pointless, I had a dining out gift card I’d bought at Christmas and not needed , so to us it felt like a free meal but if I had paid money, I would be very disappointed . On returning to the table after we had just finished the carvery the waitress said” do you want to pay now? “ No offer of a sweet or coffees and so for that reason I looked at my husband and said yes. We still had about not used on the cards. Before Covid times we have even booked Xmas lunch here so it seems to have gone downhill as Xmas Lunch was lovely, think we have been for years……but this was the first visit in at least months for tea out. It is amazing how an atmosphere can be created or killed…… the unspoken message seemed, come in, eat what’s left and get out so we can go home…… very disappointing and not a place I would recommend, not great for the brand.
Two of us went on a Wednesday evening for dinner. Good food, good service, good prices. Just what I expect from this chain.
Went with my Daughter we were shown to a small table no cutlery to start with ,had to go get a waitress to get some , The food was cold I was given lamb scraps which were fatty the other meat was cut so thin..., I paid for large plate with extra meat .The sausage were horrible .very dissatisfied cost of for meals and drinks
First visit to theToby in St Annes but sure wont be the last. Meat carved professionally by Kyle .Vegetables piping hot and fully replenished all condiments checked frequently and the meal tasted as good as it looked. Clean and pleasant restaurant serving great food success. Our server was Tilly who added that personal touch to the visit really was a pleasure to be served by this lady ..knowledgeable friendly service with a smile even though busy found time to engage with her customers a real asset to the establishment well Done
A great experience from start to finish. Sammi our server was faultless and the food and atmosphere fab!
