I give them 5 for the experience. Honestly, the food was exactly what you would expect from every Joe's Crab Shack. It wasn't spectacular, but I'm not sorry. The kitchen was amazing, there is only so much you can do with a chain menu. But my experience was above the top. I had to be around people after a difficult day and I wanted somewhere near and with a terrace so I could bring my puppies. When I arrived, the terrace was closed because of the servants and I was so disappointed, but the manager came by and offered me to sit there and serve myself so that I would not have to be turned away. He was very nice and made me feel at home and I met two of the waiters who were also very sweet and attentive. It was exactly what I needed after the day I had. Thank you. I didn't make a picture there, but I'm hanging on one of my pups, and I know who we are.
When we sat down we asked what the prices were and was told they only have the steamer, queen and king crab. We then asked what the difference was because we had no idea what the difference between the queen and king crab was and all he told us was prices. So we ordered the queen for both no sausage a lobster tail on side for me and clams for my husband. The food was delicious but my tail was just a bit over cooked. Anyways we finished and washed up and the waiter brought us our check. Upon looking at it we were charged for the king crab. The manager argued some with us about what was what, but in the end ended up taking our appetizer off, the lobster tail and the clams. It wasn't bad food just not very good service.
Great view and wonderful service, I wish the food matched. I will say our server was so kind and attentive. The view, of course, is beautiful. We ordered Joe's classic sampler, which we enjoyed. The crab and shrimp dip was creamy and rich. The calamari wasn't too bad either, and the great balls of fire were delicious and packed with seafood. For our entrées, we ordered some of the steam pots with crab and shrimp. The shrimp were way past overcooked and rubbery. The crab was okay, once you dipped it in the butter and squeezed lemon all over it. The potatoes, corn, and sausage had an awful taste to it. I wish I could explain the taste in more detail, but the closest I can think is just a strong dirt flavor. I honestly wouldn't waste my money on the crab here, which sucks seeing as though it's Joe's CRAB shack.
Came over this place as soon as we moved to Galveston. I'm not big in chain restaurants, but I had a good time here. It has all the typical tourist stuff Tou could find on the sea wall in Galveston, including a gift shop. But the food was good and the service was excellent. There were people in our group who had complicated orders. The server noticed them all up to the smallest detail. Amazing. I had the fish and chips that were tasty and not yet dried or the worst, fat. I don't remember what my partners had, but it looked like food and they seemed like it. The environment was eclectic and funny. If you're in Galveston looking for something light and good, I'd see Joe's Crab Shack.
