Landry's Prime Seafood Steaks on the seawall in Galveston, TX has a beautiful interior, excellent food, and good service. Dress of guess is a box of date night to island casual.
On a Sunday we had a reservation for 5 at 830, we were all really excited to have a great dinner at a well know restaurant. Everything started out great we get there at 815 and sat by 820! We waited a few for the server to come by as they were busy so we already knew what we were going to order when she arrived. We ordered drinks, two appetizers, and 5 steaks. Appetizers finally arrive which were great! After roughly 1 hour here comes our steaks, as soon as i touched the plate i could tell they have been baking under a heat lamp for a while, also noted the top of the steaks were black as in burned. We cut into the CAB ribeye which is suppose to me medium rare, it was well done, cut into the filet suppose to be medium rare was also well done! Actually 5 steaks that we ordered medium rare- medium came out well done! They get taken back to recook them, great we will get them the correct way... In the mean time the manager comes out to talk to us and states she has no idea what happened (which is being servers before we knew the food has been sitting under a heat lamp for one reason or another. after another 20 min here comes the steaks. We cut them again to find all the steaks were rare, black and blue, and two of them were well done again! We have all but the rib-eye sent back to cook just a bit longer as a 3, 5, and 8 year old won't eat a steak with blood flowing out of it. The manager comes out again and makes up another excuse. After another 15 min here comes the steaks again! Also want to meting my 3 kids are crying as it's been 2 hours since we arrived at the restaurant. Come to find out only 2 of the steaks come out, 1 was still rare should be medium we kept it, the other is close enough to eat. Here come the final two steaks finally! At first touch you could tell it was still rare! I cut in to the steaks and ask the sever to send the manager back out. She doesn't come, she sends the executive chef, who we could tell has been yelled at by the vein in his head.
We brought friends from London to sit on the patio, have seafood and drinks, and learn about the Galveston life. They loved the fried seafood platter, strong drinks, and watching the sun set over the water.
From the moment we arrived till the moment we left. Nothing but excellence. Melissa our waitress was above and beyond as well as our appetizers, meal and drinks, thank you Melissa and staff at Landry's. For a job very well done. Every one from the hostess to the food servers. Our meal was prepared just as requested. Thank you again.
