Coya is conveniently located just a few meters away from the Frame Hotel in Georgetown, where we were staying. We dined there for lunch or dinner four times during our visit and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is spacious and quiet, providing a perfect place to unwind after exploring the city. The owner/manager was incredibly friendly and even surprised us with a vegan jelly cake on our last visit. It was evident that she truly cares about her customers' satisfaction with their meals. We appreciated the various options available when ordering, such as choosing the type of rice we preferred. While not every dish was exceptional, all were home-cooked, fresh, and satisfying. The flavors of the good quality ingredients shone through in each bite. Our favorite dishes included the fried spinach, fried pumpkin, and schnitzel. The restaurant is not fully vegan, but non-vegan dishes are clearly marked with an egg symbol. The staff were knowledgeable about veganism and spoke excellent English, making it easy to inquire about ingredients. We left Penang just yesterday and already miss Coya. Our visits occurred in July and August 2022.

The restaurant is roomy and the employees are welcoming. They serve dishes that are free of MSG, tasty, and come in generous portions.
