Carlisle Wine Bar - Glen Eira

Food is very average and over-priced. Poor wine list too, for a wine bar! Plenty of better options near-by, don't go here.

We were in the East St Kilda area and desperate for a Saturday arvo drink. Not a lot of choice in this part of the world.Found Carlisle Wine Bar so gave it a try early on a Saturday evening.Couldn't work out why we were served with water bottle and water glasses first up. Am I missing something here? Or is the younger gens so risk adverse they need to be sipping water with their alcohol?? I felt out of place with the number of folk displaying their tatts - some of us are happy to wear them quietly.Music was of the electronic type - you know limited imagination and repetition...Beer on tap was cold and good! Limited wine selection for a wine bar.Wouldn't make a special trip to check it out but good to try if happen to be in the area.

This would have been a great restaurant and wine bar 10 years ago. It is a place to go and drink and have food on the side not the other way around. The drink list was strange and expensive. Uncomfortable chairs. The food was generally ordinary. Lamb and Salmon were good. Chips, which were recommended by the waiter were very thin and soggy. Green salad was straight out of the woolworths $1.79 per bag with some ordinary dressing. Why bother. Exactly - don't bother. Illona Stella is across the road - go there!

Great cocktails awesome service and the food was absolutely beautiful the rib eye was cooked to perfection and the truffle mash was the best I've ever had will be going back for sure !!!

Seated on a Saturday even, recieved menus and was told table water was on the way and drink orders would be taken soon. Waited for 5 minutes... nothing, 10 mins... 15 mins... at this point we tried multiple times to get someones attention, after 5 more minutes of being ignored we walked out.Food 0/10 - never got to orderDrinks 0/10 - never got to orderTable water 0/10 - never cameWalked out.Food and drinks might be good, if you get the chance to order any.
