If you believe this is quality BBQ, then you are mistaken. It is overpriced and lacks flavor. The staff may be friendly, but the dining experience is subpar.
The food is delicious, but the wait time is quite long. Even if you place an order ahead of time, it's best to call them 30 minutes before you plan on eating.
Price for a JYD potato on the online menu is set at $22.Actual price: $35There's a dry erase board that says prices on everything have gone up, and they're NOT kidding. For a large broccoli rice casserole, $9.After tax: JYD and large broccoli rice casserole: $47.63They hung up the phone before telling me the total price when placing my order. I probably would've went to Smokey Joe's BBQ near Camp Wisdom off 35 S, or Winners BBQ in Cedar Hill off of 20 W had I heard the price. Also, they did not ask if I wanted a receipt, or if I wanted it emailed as they've usually done, so I'm just warning y'all. They did, however, email the receipt. With all that said, the quality of the food is as great as ever. It's always been one of the better smaller places for BBQ. Had I been told of the price on the phone, or had the prices online matched the in-store prices I'm sure my review would have changed. But for now it seems to be bait-and-switch tactic.
I tried this place today. First off, the Junk Yard Dog has increased from $25 to $35. You can barely taste the potato. It’s just a pile of meat on a plate. The potato had chicken bones throughout. The rib placed on top of the potato tasted nothing short of lighter fluid. The potato was horrible. I made a special trip to this restaurant and drove an hour to feel disgusted after trying to digest this plate. After eating parts of this potato, l kept burping a lighter fluid taste. Disgusting!!
