Agriturismo Casella Del Piano - GUBBIO

In Italy there is a programme where a chef visits four restaurants in an area, and there is a competition between them. This place was the winner for Gubbio. I chose it not because the restauant won, but because the owner came across as a really nice person, passinate about her local produce. We discovered that she is exactly like that, the service is friendly, you feel like you are eating at home. I would recommend eating inside, the place is in the heart of the countryside, so in the evening there will be loads of insects. The owner's mother is the cook, so you really get the feeling you are eating the real dishes of Gubbio, there is nothing cheffy about this place. I had the frittata with truffles, because it was the last meal in Umbria, I don't really like truffles, but I didn't want to leave without tasting some, and it was really good. I would also recommend the chicken fricò. It is a local dish, chicken cooked with a tomato sauce. The chickens are their own, so they are a bit tougher than shop bought chicken, but delicious. If you fancy taking a trip out of the town I really would recommend it. It also has self-catering rooms, swimming pool, so you can even stay there, and I think it must be a very pleasant experience.

Absolutely FABULOUS! Wonderful locally grown food prepared with love and care by gorgeous family! Every single bite was delicious and our beautiful host explained everything in perfect English. The pasta is homemade and it sure tastes it! One night we had a pasta with local porcini and mushroom sauce. The taste was unbelevable and so light. The was followed by home grown meat from the agritourism farm. The wine both red and white was perfectly matched to the meal! We were also lucky to have plums picked from the tree right outside the dinning room.....I have never tasted fruit so fresh and picked at the peak of ripeness

The place where the property is located is surrounded by a green expanse, very relaxing place. silvia and the family are nice people and very attentive to customers. rich breakfast of homemade and genuine products, dinner: fresh products and km 0 cooked in a simple way to enhance the goto of the excellent raw material and cooked with lots of love. definitely, as soon as possible, we will return. a dear greeting from manuela

I have been with my family days on holiday in Umbria and I have to say only beautiful words: convenient to visit assisi gubbio perugia, apartment in typical style not only lacks nothing, large outdoor reserved spaces, large pool, animals and football field for children! Last but not least: kindness and helpfulness of the owners, silvia is in sympathy and kindness, good and abundant cuisine! I mean.
