The restaurant is only open for dinner and opens at 7:30pm. It is smaller and family run. The food is excellent and home cooked. 3 ladies are working in the kitchen. The portions are also good and most dishes come with both homemade fries, rice, lettuce and grated carrots. We came here 6 days in a row and would have came 7 days in a row if they were open on Sundays! The only negative is that they come with bread, olives and empanadas (couvert) and at first we thought it was for free but they do charge 5 euros for the empanadas and another 2-3 euros for the bread and olives. If you don’t want it make sure you tell them you don’t want it. Apart from that everything else was excellent.
Traditional restaurant, mid-low range prices, good popular service, very good food Portuguese food. Just in front of the railway station.
Eating can still be fun. Amazingly busy with locals which included one gentleman who appeared to be wearing armour ? . Everyone appeared to know what they were doing and it all worked well. Language and understanding the menu was a bit of a struggle but we got there in the end. First time for rice and chips but not the last, whilst in Portugal. A wonderful experience for a first time in the north. Plenty to eat and drink including aperitifs, wine and coffee for 29.50€ for two. Entertainment on the house. The restaurant is separate from the bar and there are a couple of outside tables. Really handy for the hotel next door, the Dom Joao IV.
