Allenby - Haifa

Great Arabic food! I was really lucky tonight. I went to the Allenby Restaurant on Saturday night. It turns out that Saturdays make her lamb slowly roasted in the oven, and it does not always take until evening. I love lamb, and that was especially mouthwater. (See attached photo. A huge piece of lamb on a bone came roasted with potatoes and carrots over a bed of yellow rice, and deliciously seasoned. It came with a delicious spinach salad. It was worth the 100 NIS. I had to take some home; the portion was huge. Free Arabic coffee at the end.

Very nice place. Fast and friendly service. Big portions. Delicious food.

We were 2 adults and 4 children a t lunch. The business dinner XL was more than enough for us, with 2 kebab-skewers, 2 chiken-skewers, chiken liver and chest. It also comes with frits and mojadara and 5 salads. We added humus and soft drinks and it was an excellent and extremely affordable meal. Host was very nice and patient : thx!

On Saturday noon and the place was crowded. It took 45 minutes to get a table (one week before Christmas). When we set ourselves, we understood that waiting was worth it. The waiter was supernice and friendly. Recommended the right dishes. The food was fresh and delicious. Was very satisfied with the price. The only drawback was the size of the restaurant.

The real thing: Hummus by and for locals. Clean kitchen, fresh produce, businesslike service, no loud muzak. Competitive prices. Top for your money: Hummus with fool.
