Pitchers Place Comfort Cuisine

I visited Pitcher's Place with my family (14 of us) while vacationing in the area.What I like about the restaurant is that they use fresh and LOCAL ingredients and food...even down to the beer they serve. You can tell everything is made from scratch and the dishes all have an interesting flair to them. But what I like most about this restaurant is that they consider dietary restrictions. The menu has gluten-free and dairy-free options (and vegetarian) and it's listed right on the menu. As someone with a dairy allergy, this was a relief. I didn't have to ask the waiter a bunch of questions about ingredients. I ordered the falafel plate and the other adults ordered the burger, the pasta special, and the steak. Those who ordered the burger and the steak loved it! Those of us who ordered the falafel or the pasta enjoyed it as well (though some found them both a little too heavy on the garlic). Again though, you could tell everything was made from scratch!The owner/server seemed a little overwhelmed by serving a large group and was awkward in his interaction with us (though the rest of the restaurant was empty at the time we arrived), but all in all, it was a pleasant experience. I'm impressed that a small restaurant in this small town has such creative dishes and also makes the effort to support other small businesses/farmers in the area. The fact that they consider dietary restrictions is always a plus too!

Went for lunch this afternoon and had a great time! Considering the location and how remote this place is they make great food. Also enjoy the beer that they have on tap and I will be coming back very soon!

I was really excited to eat at this restaurant. I made reservations 2 weeks in advance just to be sure we would have a seat that night. When making the reservations I spoke with the owner himself. He asked for my phone number, like most places do, and said ok...we are booked. On the day of our dinner, we drove 1 hour to the restaurant to find a sign on the door saying it was closed due to plumbing issues. First, my complaint is not they had issues (things happen), but not to call and tell me??? Totally unprofessional. While I frantically looking for somewhere else to dine, since we had theatre tickets that night...I noticed on their Instagram feed they put up a notice saying they were having issues and will l keep people posted. When I left them a comment on their IG feed, they responded and said we did not have reservations, the owner said there were NO reservations for that night, therefore they had no contact information. I don't usually check an IG feed of a restaurant to see if they are open. Needless to say, there was NO miscommunication, but attention to detail seems to be an issue. Luckily we were able to find a GREAT restaurant in Cobourg and had a great meal!!

This is a terrific restaurant. I've been several times, each time bringing someone new to experience this little gem. The owners are very warm and welcoming, enthusiastic about food and about making sure your experience is great. Everything I've had on the menu is delicious and sourced locally as much as possible. I always look forward to going back.

The food is fantastic and extremely thoughtful, the service is great, the drinks are great and the location and environment are great. By far the best restaurant in 100km. The marinated cheese curds are a must have.
