The wine tasting is very affordable R100 and I tasted 4 wines, 2 were tgeur own and the other two were from their sister vineyards. The wines tasted absolutely exquisite with pleasant aromas. The views and the landscape are dying. The staff was very helpful and friendly. If you want Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, you are in the right place.
I think my first taste of Hamilton Russell (HR) was the 2004 vintage of Pinot Noir, flanked by the "06 Chardonnay both supplies WOW factors. A few years and a pandemic later I found myself in the Hemel en Aarde Valley on a quiet Thursday afternoon, with the time to press in just one tasting. Conundrum, but what farm? Options, options, options... The maintenance of the road made it easy to decide with the first stop at the entrance of the HR. Upon arrival, we were greeted by some of the cellar staff who surrounded us on their tasks, looking at a charming holiday home with a beautiful dam with lots of natural habitat. Chantel der Verkostungsraum Host stahl die Kamin then presented us with the 4 wines in the offer for a frugal R100 pp. The tasting was nothing less than a few laughs, beautiful views and excellent wines, but, my primary away from this visit was the story lesson I learned about the property. So that their ethos of love and respect for the Terroir or land, the crafts of viticulture and the families working on the estate. Amazing!
A so nice cozy cottage with a beautiful terrace and views of the vineyard. The wines were really unique, especially the aged Sav blanc.
Absolutely stunning wine farm! Worth a visit when you're in the area. We loved every minute of our visit. Friendly and helpful staff. The best Chardonnay in South Africa and enchanting donkey to boot. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
