This place is great for Mexican cuisine. There is also a cocktail bar on the upper level great before you have your meal. The Fahijtas are dying for...
My friends and I visited Amigos last night. The food was good, but the staff were incredibly rude. I had to go search for them in order to order a drink, as they were busy chatting in the back. No one came to check on our food. When we finished eating, the server came over and immediately asked if we wanted the bill, trying to rush us out the door. The bill included a service charge of £16, which I personally didn't feel they deserved. When we asked about it, the server was extremely rude and replied, "Well, do you want it back or not?" We decided to just pay it, but we were not happy with the service. As we were leaving, the server's response was simply, "Perfect, bye." I would not go back to this restaurant, as the staff were awful.
I have dined at this restaurant before and have always enjoyed the good food and service. The menu offers basic Mexican and South American dishes, nothing extraordinary. Despite being a small restaurant with limited indoor space, I was surprised to see all tables occupied with minimal distance between them, not ideal for those concerned about social distancing during the current pandemic.
We have occasionally visited this restaurant and have rarely been disappointed! Today, the food and service were very good, but we were surprised when they served white wine at room temperature on a warm evening. We even had to take ice cubes from the ice bucket to chill the red wine down a bit! We started with meatballs and patatas bravas to share, which were attractively presented and tasted delicious. For main courses, we had sizzling steak fajitas, authentically prepared and reminiscent of our Mexican holiday, ropas viejas, a typical Cuban dish, and chicken enchiladas. All dishes were substantial, and we were too full for dessert. We also appreciated the Eat Out to Help Out initiative, which made the total bill very reasonable.
