Border Grill - Houghton

The hockey team visiting needed a dinner setup for 25 people, and the staff at Border Grill went above and beyond to help organize and deliver the order to our hotel. The food was fantastic, and the team really enjoyed it. We had more than enough to eat, and they've already requested that we order from there again next year! Thank you, Border Grill in Houghton-Keweenaw!

Upon arriving, the young man who approached my car seemed to regard me as an annoyance, as if he had far more important matters to attend to. When he finally retrieved my order and brought it to the window, he hastily took my payment and shoved the bag of food toward me while handing back my change. His demeanor suggested he’d rather be anywhere else—he was unfriendly, barely spoke, and didn’t even offer a smile. Additionally, there was a girl stationed at the counter where food is typically picked up, just waiting for customers.

I stopped in feeling hungry and decided to order a burrito, a taco, and some nachos because the menu had options and ingredients that appealed to me. However, when our food arrived, we tried to find a table, but all of them were dirty. We settled down and started with the guacamole, salsa, and queso, which were served in individual containers—not bad. Unfortunately, I found diced, cold, pre-cooked chicken on my nachos, which was really unappetizing. I then noticed all the meat was stored in large clear containers on a shelf, and it was all pre-cooked. Overall, it was a disappointing experience in a dirty environment, and I don’t plan on returning.

Stop looking for another place to eat and head to the Border Grill in Houghton! Seriously. Everything I have had here has been phenomenal and the staff is even better! I was blown away by the level of customer service that Silas, Marielle and Meredith uphold! The three of them made me feel so welcome and were oh so helpful when I was overwhelmed by all the menu has to offer!

Is it okay to say I am happier after eating at Boarder Grill? I mean, at Ta o Bell you may spend less, but the quality is far below what you get here. Fresh food is just better. You get a full without feeling bloated and heavy. They staff was super friendly, offered suggestions, and were knowledgeable about the menu. After eating at Boarder Grill I feel like I made a good life choice. Maybe tomorrow I make another.
