Steve, working with the furniture department was wonderfully helpful. Gave some great advice and was a joy to speak to thank you Steve for your help. Very informative:
Stopped here for lunch. Club sandwich was very good, fresh bread and filling. Flan also very good. Prices were reasonable. Tables were clean. Staff were friendly, service was prompt. Cafe was bright, decorated with a few bits and pieces from the shop.
First I'd like to say the shop is beautiful well laid out with happy friendly staff, the cafe on the other hand not very impressed, the attitude off staff was not great when asked about cakes, staff seem to have no knowledge of cross contamination (my husband is a celiac) and to then go and moan to the manager in front of us is very unprofessional. We reminded the staff that different tongs needed to be used when handling gluten free cake to be met with attitude over it and that we needed to ask them to use different tongs....this should be automatic in line with allergies guidelines or signs should be out saying there not able to garentee gf. The homemade cakes we had were very nice but unfortunately this was tarnished by the feeling of feeling uncomfortable sat being talked about/watched.
Went for lunch with my friend, had quiche and salad. The quiche was a nice flavour although by the time it had been nuked to warm it up, the pastry was soggy and the filling was greasy. The salad costing an extra £1.25 consisted of 2 slices of cucumber, 2 slices of tomato, a handful of iceberg lettuce and a tablespoon of coleslaw. This to me constitutes a garnish more than a salad. Not impressed and won 't be going back anytime soon.
