If you're on Fogo Island, make sure to dine at the Inn at least once! It's a truly enchanting experience that goes beyond just a meal.
Although the service at the restaurant was excellent and the Inn itself was beautiful, we were extremely let down by the food. Two of the appetizers lacked flavor and had a strange texture, while the other two were overwhelming with an odd mix of bland vegetables. Our entrées also fell short, with peculiar sauces and soggy buns on the sandwiches. Despite our high hopes for dining at Fogo Inn Restaurant, it turned out to be the most disappointing fine dining experience we have had. We were looking forward to this meal for a while, but truthfully, it was subpar and not worth recommending to others. Thankfully, the atmosphere was lovely. It was a very disappointing dining experience, especially considering the over $300 we spent.
I enjoyed the lunch at this restaurant. The food was exceptional, especially the vegan options. Unfortunately, there weren't any vegan dessert options available, so we had to settle for stewed apples instead of the delicious looking options on the dessert cart. Additionally, when we arrived a bit early for our reservation, we were not allowed to explore the outside of the inn or join any tours, which was disappointing. It would have been helpful if they had informed us about the tours when we made the lunch reservation. Overall, we were put off by the restrictions at the gate area, as we had to leave and come back later to join a tour.
During the service was great and beautiful, we were very disappointed at eating. two of the appetizers were very bland with a strange texture and the other two were very overwhelming with a strange mix of sweet (also very bland.) two of our entréen had peculiar sauces that left an immediate unpleasant aftertaste, while the other two had soggy rolls for the sandwiches. in all our culinary experiences the quality and taste in the fogo inn restaurant was the most disappointing. we had been looking forward to going there for a long time, but in all honesty, it was an extremely subpar eating experience and I would not recommend eating it. the ambiente was beautiful. a very, very disappointing $300 plus spent.
