Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónAmeristar is a place that seems to be on the decline. The buffet has disappeared, taking with it a range of decent food at reasonable prices. The microbrewery was closed, leaving the place nearly empty—almost as if it needed a few tumbleweeds rolling through. My visit to the Cantina continued the trend of disappointment. I ordered steak nachos, but what I received was a plate mostly filled with lettuce, some kind of white sauce, and meat that had the texture of cardboard and only a hint of beef flavor. This stomach-churning dish cost me $20, plus a tip. The only bright spot in this experience was my server, Vu, who was a pleasure to chat with. It’s clear that whoever is making the food decisions at Ameristar needs to be let go.
As a truck driver, I travel all over the U.S. and get to taste a variety of foods. When I discovered this restaurant, I couldn't resist giving it a try. Unfortunately, after my visit, I wish I had spent that money on slot machines instead—it was that disappointing.
The hot salsa is actually just enchilada sauce, as you can see from the brown sauce in the pictures. The highlight of our meal was definitely the $7 lime margaritas. My wife enjoyed the chicken torta. Overall, I’d give it a 3 out of 5, but at least you don’t have to drive to get here.
Missed getting chips and salsa prior to the meal....but otherwise was pleased with the food and service. The nacho plate is huge, so bear that in mind!!
I wouldn't say the food is excellent, but its pretty decent for the price. The service is always friendly and speedy. The atmosphere is not great, it is always noisy because it shares space with a large open area that people traverse and talk. The coconut margarita tasted a bit like mayonnaise which was a nasty surprise.
