Terrace Roma - Key West

The restaurant was not open. The tables and chairs were piled up, indicating that it may have been closed for a long period of time.

Make sure to visit Roma located in downtown Key West. There is no question that the chef and his cuisine are incredibly similar to what you would find at a fine Ristorante or Osteria in Rome, Italy. The wine we enjoyed was from a local winery near Rome and it was exceptional. Throughout our two-hour dinner, we simply asked the chef to surprise us with an appetizer, and it was incredible. Instead of browsing the menu, just inquire about the chef's special dish for the day. I ordered the veal scallopini while my wife had spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were incredibly tender, and the veal was cooked to perfection. For dessert, we both indulged in the made-to-order Tiramisu. If you have visited Italy, you will recognize the unique flavor and charm that accompanies their cuisine. Terrace Roma embodies both of these qualities. Make sure to visit and experience it for yourself.

So, after pondering this review for a week, I feel like I was taken for a ride by a con artist. Modello was skunked, food mediocre at best. I felt like I was talked out of ordering off the menu as if it would be sub par if we had. When the bill came it was sticker shock. It wasn 't until the next day that we realized the bill was padded by a couple of extra meals. Our fault for not catching it then, but the bewilderment by the tab had our head spinning. When they say watch out for a place that has no clientele, and you go anyway, buyer beware..I will never go back.

We were the only customers in the restaurant the whole time. It's off the beaten path, which is fine but it was dirty and not clean and smelled a bit moldy. The bathroom door did not lock either. Besides that, the food was good. Pretty authentic. But would not recommend as there is better places around for Italian.

The food at this restaurant is amazing - it's authentic and a hidden gem. I tried the gnocchi with marinara sauce and it was incredibly delicious. Everyone in our group left happy and feeling very full.
