I had a pint of guinmess and my wife had a glass of wine both were on point . The bar decor is nice and we felt comfortable and were nicely greeted by the server , she even asked if we would like to change the channel on the tv as we were watching it . I asked for the football and was duely granted . We then went to The Bacchus Room restaurant for our meal this was well laid out too and we admired the huge clock which we now want for our kitchen
My wife and I stopped in at this restaurant about an hour before they shut down for the night. The restaurant was mostly empty and the waiters didn't seem thrilled to see us. Service was very poor despite the place being mostly empty, and we were largely ignored for the whole night. The restaurant was quite dark and there were no plates to eat the bread which was brought to us at the start of the meal. The food itself was very overpriced for what we got. Both of our plates were covered in oil like they had just plopped the meat onto the dish and dumped pan juices out with them , and our meats were both overcooked. There wasn't much of what we ordered on the plates as the portions were quite small, but we got a side dish of vegetables and a croquette, which was unexpected but still better than the main dishes. The salsa ? under my fish tasted like raw red peppers and nothing else. I think some of the items that were supposed to be on my plate were missing, but I couldn't catch the attention of a member of staff to ask for a menu. The desserts were also very small and overpriced. This was a very disappointing experience in an otherwise lovely visit to Killarney.
Lovely food and good efficient service would definitely recommend if staying in the hotel or nearby. Good value too
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great food and good sized portions. Will visit again, soon. Recommended.
Dined here recently with a friend before going to a show at the INEC. We stayed in the hotel and got a good rate for dinner b/b. For starters we both chose crab claws the were over cooked, dry and tough to eat. For mains I had surf and turf, the steak was delicious and perfectly cooked as was the selection of vegetables and potatoes but again the crab claws were over cooked. My friend had goose which was tough and over cooked. She was very disappointed. I had complained to our waiter after our starters about the fish being over cooked but obviously it didn’t matter to the chef. Dessert of crepe brûlée was good. This experience wouldn’t put me off dining here again. Staff were very friendly.
