I absolutely, completely, hands down LOVE Italian Village Pizza and their crew. No matter if I just get a slice or a whole pie, it's always been perfect. I recommend their sandwiches also. My personal fave is the Cheese Steak (meat, extra cheese/extra onions hold the pizza sauce, side of oil to go) Hot Ham and Cheese is a close second. They have a wide variety of salads and homemade entrees, think scratch made meatballs, sauces, lasagna etc. I'm actually having them for lunch today now. If you want phenomenal pizza, service, and a full belly, go see Enzo Monno and his crew at Italian Village. You won't be disappointed.
The pizzas are good but the salads are consistently pathetic and that's being generous. The picture that is posted is what I picked out of my salad last time I ate there. I believe they store the salads and a cooler that is too cold and it actually freezes the lettuce and the vegetables and I get mushy and brown. I can't understand why the staff can't see the brown pieces and I think that that is unacceptable to serve to their patrons. You can get just as good pizza if not better at Giuseppe's and Raphael's and get a great salad from both. And these two restaurants are owned by the same family
We opted to try Italian Village because of the good rating. The restaurant is located in a failing mall, but you do not have to walk the entire mall because it has an exterior door (between Belk JCPenney). The inside of the restaurant is older and not the cleanest, but it isn't frightening. When we approached the counter to place an order, the man who assisted us was unfriendly. If we were to describe him in one word, it would be efficient and nothing else. The pizza was ready when promised and smelt delicious, so we were looking forward to our first bites; nevertheless, the flavor was lackluster. The dough was good but not exceptional, and the sauce was adequate but not outstanding. The overall flavor wasn't particularly savory or unpleasant; it was simply there and edible. The pepperonis were also undercooked, as was the entire pizza, so it sagged while trying to eat it. After a few slices, we all decided the rest of the pizza will go uneaten. We will not be going back because we have tried two other pizza businesses in Kingsport, both of which were superior to this pizza location.
My wife and I frequently visit this restaurant for drinks or a full meal. Today, she tried the ivory and the salad and loved it! I had a pizza with amazing flavors and a fantastic crust. The staff is always friendly, patient, and helpful. We highly recommend this place.
