Old Grey Mare

Me and my friends are frequent visitors to Old Grey Mare because of the choice of meals, offers and deals that are available. Today We ordered the cooked breakfast for less than £5 per person. The breakfast was very tasty, hot and brilliant value for money. Our table server was Craig. He was very hard working, polite and attentive. He couldn’t do enough for us.

We consider ourselfs regular customers of this pub and travel right across town to get here as the other Greene King close to us ' 'The Whistling Goose ' ' is very bad food and service. However the last 2 months have seen a decline in the food quality and staff morale plummet at the Old Grey Mare? However we thought we would give in another try and went tonight 24/10 for our 31st anniversary. The food seemed to be cooked by a couple of young KP chefs who failed their cookery GCSE. I normally get the mixed grill which has always been amazing on Thur Fri Sat. But tonight we got the posh burgers and upgraded the fries to chips and melted cheese with BBQ sauce. All the food was cold and we returned the chips which had NO cheese just a trickle of sauce. We waited 25 mins to get a replacement despite chasing them up 3 times! What a real shame I 'm going to avoid this pub for a while the love has gone here! Used to be the best place in Hull especially the value for money mixed grill so the good chefs have walked by the look of it.

After previously having a poor experience in a Greene King pub, this was really very good. Steak cooked as requested, staff courteous and attentive. Bravo.

I came back to Hull for my second year at uni. I remembered this place being a really nice setting for catch ups and nice food so I invited a friend to join me. This was on Tuesday 3rd October evening. However there was a member of staff I’d not seen before and he made me and my friend feel uncomfortable. We are both 19 and he was making comments about how pretty we were and what we were wearing whilst we ordered drinks at the bar. When my friend and I both just looked at each other, he held his hands up and said I’m just saying and laughed. He is an older man, quite short, bald head, glasses. Didn’t catch his name unfortunately as we only stayed for a quick drink and left despite coming for tea. This is such a shame because as I previously stated, it is a nice establishment, and unfortunately this encounter has made me not want to return. This pub seems like a family friendly establishment and I wouldn’t want him to make inappropriate comments again to other people.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Food amazing and staff super friendly. Seen on some reviews about parking but there is plenty of notices about . Just pop your reg number in one of the many machines in the pub and all is good . My new favourite place when eating in hull . Steak was delicious and hubby had mixed grill cannot fault it .
